Guest guest
How did you guys figure out that specifically what you can and cannot eat? I mean, how do you isolate Splenda or mayo that you have an intolerance/allergy for? How do you factor out TOM, sodium, water weight, etc...? I would like to be able to figure out my own sensitivities without doing the elimination fast thingy. Thanks! Suzanne > Carol, I also decided I cannot eat splenda or mayonaise. Guest guest
Hi Suzanne, I think I have a allergy to mayonaise because after I eat it I feel sick to my stomach and I will go up a lb. i weight. I am guessing about the splenda. It doesn't make me sick but I started using it last april and that is when I stopped losing weight. Just another guess on my part. Another thing that I know I cannot eat without gaining is cream cheese. I love it but I always gain when I do. I guess it just a trial and error thing. Pay attention to how you feel after you eat a suspecting food. Just my opinion. Laverne think spring
Guest guest
You can try keeping everything else constant Suzanne. If you normally gain weight prior/during TOM, don't do it then. But just make sure you are super hydrated every day 100+ oz and that'll help keep water retention low. Then make an effort to eat at the same level of carbs and stuff as you do normally, but don't eat the one item that you are testing. Do this for at least a week and see what happens to your weight loss. If nothing changes, try adding it back in for a week and see what happens. You are correct that there may be some coincidental things going on, so you might want to try testing it, re-adding it, testing it again to see if the pattern sticks. The key is to try and minimize the variables in your diet and test it for a long enough time that a pattern is established - if you omit it for 1 day and your weight drops, you don't know if it is pure coincidence or not. Because stalls and plateaus are a part of diet life, you could end up restricting your eating unnecessarily if you stop eating something based on a one-time coincidental response! Guest guest
Stillman diet? Hmmm... I looked into it but the thought of giving up my olive oil and/or butter made me completely reconsider. Tell me a few good things about it that will help counteract my negative thoughts regarding the loss of olive oil/butter and maybe I will re-reconsider :-) -Marlena >From: ecenet@... >Reply-To: Atkins_Support_List >To: Atkins_Support_List >Subject: Re: Happy Day >Date: Thu, 29 Mar 2001 12:03:22 -0600 (CST) > >, what a sweetie. Guest guest
Well for one thing Marlena, I am not a bit hungrey. It's very easy because you know all you can eat is meat. Also this is the first time in months that the scale has moved down. Also you don't have to be on it forever. I am doing it strickly for 2 weeks then I will do it during the week only and eat atkins on week ends. I miss my veggies and salads too. Give it a try. What have you got to lose. Laverne Leaving shortly for my interview. Yippee think spring
