Barbara if you have any insight I'd like to know! Now I had 2 children in 1999 leaving me without a period since April 1998 and I went on the Depo shot soon after my DD was born. I had a m/c a few weeks ago with some spotting but nothing major (u/s confirmed the tissue passed) and I have YET to have a post partum period let alone any period.. am I IN FOR It?! I've heard the first PP period is AWFUL and heavy and I haven't had one at ALL for over 3yrs now! Any insight?! My current OB said that being on the Depo shot I didn't build a lining so there is nothing to worry about but I'm still nervous! OH and BTW I had 2 c-sections with hemmorhhaging after the first (not b/c of it just how my body handled the birth (twins one born still)) and it stopped at 10 days post partum and with my 2nd birth I had bleeding 3 days while in the hospital and went home with very little of that " leftover yellow " stuff! So could I just not have anything in there?! *~Joy~* Lap RNY 2/26/01 Dr. N. I just wanted to let you know that I was on Depo for 5 years before my dd was born. When we decided to get pregnant, I stopped getting my shot. It took five months for me to have my 1st period. I then got prego a month later. Just thought I would pass the info. Tammi Yount VBG 8-8-01 loss to date: 47 lbs.

I went off the shot last year (just didn't up it b/c I wasn't having sex to NEED it LOL) and waited 3mos.. when the NEXT one would have come due I had horrifying cramps and a little spotting but nothing I'd consider a period and got the shot and it went away! So who knows maybe I had a " mini-period " in there LOL *~Joy~* Lap RNY 2/26/01 Dr. N. Several things. First off, worrying isn't going to make your period any worse or better... so just let that aspect go. I understand wanting to be prepared, but no more fretting, okay? You doc is correct. Most likely, you will be fine and dandy with regards to your first/next period. Periods after pregnancy, miscarriages, abortions, Depo/BCP/ Norplant cessation and WLS can be sporadic, strange, absent, or near-constant... those are all normal variations. It takes a few months for the hormones to get into their own rhythm, but they do eventually. Eat soy, exercise, drink plenty of water, stay away from caffeine and Nutrasweet, stay away from chocolate and other refined sugars, and work on staying as stress-free as possible (with lots of Life happening). I hope this helps a tad! Guest guest
Welcome Lindsey, thank you for sharing your story! This is the best group. Zephyr New here Hello all. I am technically not on WW (my mother is so I do understand how it works). I can't bear going to the meetings & following the point guide - call me weird. So hopefully you all don't mind my being here. I am just on my own system, I just basically try to consume less than 1000 calories and less than 22 g of fat per day. Here is my story ; ) Approx. seven years ago I was put on a medication that required me to monitor and reduce my fat intake substancially. At the time I was a size 26, obviously quite overwieght however I am not sure of my weight. There was no magic to the diet I simply had to eat less fat and sugar and do some exercising. My aquantances began asking me if I was melting. In the end I lost about 10 pant sizes ending at a size 14/16 in about 6 months. I was enjoying my life a lot more - actually feeling attractive for the first time in my life. I really enjoyed the attention, and I just liked knowing I looked good. My diet was very strict, my goal was 3g of fat in a day because the medication was elevating my blood fat so much. When I got off the medication, I no longer 'had' to diet but I had made some substancial lifestyle changes so I did keep up a lot of it. I maintained my weight loss for 5 years. I had my good days and bad of course and I am sure I gained and lost that last 5 pounds many times. Three years ago I had some major changes in my life, got married, moved to a strange city 300+ miles from all my family and friends, and couldn't work. So with a snack here and treat there, over two years I crept from a size 14/16 to an 18/20. I never been in the habit of weighing myself, I find it very discouraging. However through being weighed at the doctor's office I know that I have gained 35 pounds in the last 6 months. So now I have to face reality and reassess my eating habits. I started last week, measuring everything and just making better food choices in general. Makes me realize how far I've slipped : P I have also purchased a scale. I have tried not to think of an ideal weight or size, I think because I am afraid of failure. I've been reading this list for about a week and I have really enjoyed the openness of the members. I think it would be very helpful for me to communicate with people like me. I don't have many friends who struggle with their weight. Although my mother is on WW it is because she has high colesterol, she is at max a size 12 and is considered to be at an attractive weight so she really hasn't been where I am (I take after my fathers side). For the record I weighed 215 pounds when I began. I saw an old photo of me when I know I was a size 10(ish). I think I looked really good at that weight. I haven't been at that weight since I was 15. So I hope to eventually reach that as my goal. My more short term goal is to be under 200 pounds by the end of March. Lindsy in MI
