Guest guest
, Yes, I was assuming you had read all of 's posts regarding kindergarten and I too would think about starting her next year...but don't think it would be a popular opinion....our school was actually angry at us, even though like 's old town many children without special needs that are boys are held, for holding him. But our school is unlike Kathy, in that it is their tradition to push kids into first grade and then hold many of them in first or second when they have difficulties...in fact in the IEP meeting when they were trying to convince us to not hold him I asked what the plan would be if he began having trouble and they said off the cuff, " oh we will just hold him back and have him repeat " ....I could not believe that mentality because like Tanner Micah was fully aware at that age and it would not have been good for his self esteem to be held back while his friends went on.....but I have seen them do that repeatedly with kids at this school....instead of addressing what the difficulties could be at the beginning, just holding them back and then trying to figure it out in third or fourth grade..so sad! As I have posted before we are very happy with our decision, although it was agonizing to make....that was the first question I ever posted to this group....and don't regret it one bit.
