what a gift for us this afternoon. I just knew something wonderful was in store for us today. You'll have to send pictures so we can all check out your pretty face. Thank YOU for posting. God is always faithful to his children.Love and Prayers, Peggy  ipf 6/04 Florida"Worry looks around, Sorry looks back, Faith looks up." Hello everyone,Well, I am here...with a hole in my neck.  But NOTHING on my nose or face.  Surgery was not easy but tolerable.  They did not put me to sleep but just dulled things I guess.  I kept up a dialogue with my surgeon, who , by the way, was so good loking.  ANyway, he talked to me throughout the surgery, telling me exactly what he was doing .  Told me my trachea was further down then most people's and that he had to cut more.  I told him I didnt want to hear aboaut the cutting.  Surgery was about an hour and a half.  Went into intensive care unit.  Boy...did I make noise.  To me, it sounded like the noise you make when you are calling ducks...but louder.  Every breath....that went on most of the day but became less and less.  I was on 5L through the neck and 5 though the mask.  Pain meds kept me asleep most of the day and my throat felt like I had strept throat.  Nurses suctioned stuff out all the time.  Guess that was the stuff making the noise.  Anyway, the next day the surgeon came in, told them to unhook the mask and now I am only on the neck oxygen.  At 5L.  My numers stayed in the high 90's, only gioing to the 80's when I had alot of gunk.  But came right back.  I even got up and walked around the room and it stayed in the 90's, AMAZING!!!!! The respiratory team taught my husband how to clean this thing and I came home.  Tim was nervous the first time, and so was I but no need to be.  He did good.  I am on antibiotics and a cough suppresent and Mucinex..2 at a time.  Two times a day.  That is differeent.  The strange thing to me is that I cant hear or feel the oxygen at all so it is a little scary to me but I was told that if I ever get sob, then just turn up the concentrator or put on a cannula.  But so far, nothing.  In fact, I slept in my bed last night, only two pillows.  Tim said my breath was easy and calm.  Getting dressed always takes alot of breath for me so I guess tomorrow I will test that out.  You know, if I can use only 5L, then I can have a smallelr portable, I maybe wont faint anymore, will be able to talk more...and without the thing in my nose or the mask.....I can kiss my husband again.Things are good so far.  Must stop now.  My pain pill has kicked in and am sleepy.  Typing is probably bad but you can deciper it.  Hope everyone is doing the best they can do.  Thank you all for praying.  YOu know, I thought this time was my time to die....guess not.I love all of you.  Peggy, you are right.  God is so good.

Oh yes, God is good. I was praying and thinking of you so much during the last few days. You are amazing. God is amazing. I give him the praise.

I know that you don't feel like answering questions....but....I am very interested in the fact that you can turn your oxygen back. I will be interested to know if you can leave it at 5L when you start becoming more active.

Also, I'm concerned about the junk since I produce so much of it. I am going to speak to my doc about transtracheal because this much air going up my nose is miserable!

Please rest and feel better. Write soon.
