Guest guest
Nasty emails not allowed!! LOL. But your post is fine. Some folks need adrenal support; others do not. And some may simply be mistaking their underlying low Ferritin for adrenal issues. Bottom line: get your Ferritin tested!! Janie > > People saying it was adrenal when it was really ferritin. THANK YOU! That is > what I am seeing and as a person that was given steriods for an eye issue, > steriods can make a train wreck feel better! Boy, am I going to gert nasty > email for this!!!!! Guest guest
Jamy, Janie and everyone: Excellent point! But HELP! How can you tell for sure if you're suffering from adrenal fatigue or low ferritin symptoms? I have symptoms of both. My last ferritin test was 19. My last cortisol blood draw was, I believe, 22 with the top number being 25. However, a few months prior to that I did the saliva test and the cortisol levels were all low (but still within range). I've been on hydrocortisone (2.5 mg 3x day) for two weeks and it's killing my stomach. I felt a little improvement at first but feel as sick as ever again. Would I do better to drop the adrenal support and try to get the ferritin level up first? It's SUCH a long process! Thank you for all your suggestions! > Nasty emails not allowed!! LOL. Guest guest
Hi , Yes, I have been taking the hydrocortisone with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. ~ > , > Are you taking the hydrocortisone with food? > in Va. > -----
Guest guest
Thank you Jamy, Your explanation made a lot of sense, and maybe that's what is going on with me too. I've managed to get the Armour up to 75 mg but I think this is the limit for now. Maybe being low on ferritin would explain why the positive effects of the Armour, hydrocortisone, DHEA, and the B-vitamins only seemed to work for a short while and why I keep going back to feeling so downright miserable. Does that sound plausible? Do you know if there's such a thing as iron shots and if they work for ferritin levels? I TRY to take a liquid iron supplement but it kind of irritates my stomach too (but not as much as the pills). I must make myself try harder in that area. Did you ever experience a burning feeling in your throat/lungs, shortness of breath type thing with low ferritin levels? > I found that with me, the main issue why the thyroid meds weren't able to go > up and work was the low ferritin. I flunked every one of those written > tests. My acth and cortisol were all low normal. With the ferritin up, they > are mid range normal. Guest guest
Wow, sounds just like me. Did you experience shortness of breath or sore throat/breathing, anything like that? How about sobbing/crying a lot??? I thought that was my adrenals being fatigued. How is the Ferrous Sulfate on the stomach? I've tried a couple different kinds but they bother me. The liquid is " okay " but it hurts my stomach sometimes. I'm a hard case ... Thanks! > >My last ferritin test was 19. > > That is a test that screams to be higher. Guest guest
Sharon thank you, I'm sure trying. I printed out the note you sent me on the other list about being patient and Dr. Hertogh's (spelling?) words and I look at it often, as a reminder to myself that this is going to be a long process but that people can and DO get better. But, want to be sure I'm doing the right things on the way to getting there so I can get there. Can I ask what you did to bring your ferritin levels up? Thank you. Have a great day. :-) > > Remember it took almost a year to get the ferritin up there. > Constant questions about increasing the armour. Too much and too > many adverse symptoms. Guest guest
Hello Because I've had such heavy menstrual cycles (vinyl underwear 2 days out of the month) for the last 10 - 15 years I'd be willing to bet I don't need a test to see if ferritin levels are low. Is this something (ferrous sulfate) you can take and see how you feel like most everything else? In many of the posts getting tested first was mentioned alot which is why I ask. I was the one asking about what I needed for my dr's appt Monday. Got the Armour and been taking since Tuesday. Not sure how I feel yet. Thanx
