Guest guest
I sympathize with your predicament, Carol. I regularly suffered from sore throats and colds, at least two a year; however, I now haven't had a cold in the several years. Here's what I think really helped me. 1. I make a point of cleaning my hands fairly frequently, especially after shaking hands with others. 2. At the first sign of a sore throat, and I mean within 10 minutes, I suck on a Cold-Eeze. That's a lozenge with a substantial amount of zinc. I ensure that I have the lozenges immediately available, and give the same attention to that as I do to ensuring that I have a glucose tablet at hand. 3. I take 500 mg of vitamin C on a fairly regular basis (the ester type because it doesn't upset my stomach) When I was in my twenties . . . a long, long, time ago, I had my tonsils removed. That procedure greatly reduced the incidence of sore throats, but I still caught colds until I introduced items 1 though 3 above.

I've started taking vit C. > This is within my realm of expertise so I'll take a crack at it. You're on the right track with vitamin C but there's much more to it than that antioxidant. Cold-processed whey has the precursors for glutathione, which is the body's crucial master antioxidant, used in the immune response and also directly to prevent infection from entering cells. When glutahtione is low there is always illness and infection even if all of the other antioxidants are plentiful. That infection is increased when glutathione is low is a major point because glutathione is depleted by oxidative stress, which is known to be particularly high in diabetics. All the antioxidants work tgether, and because diabetic complications are ones of oxidation, it only makes sense to use them. Want raw data? http://members.shaw.ca/widewest/GSH_medline.html The immune system's white cell count can be increased with small challenges. This is how echinacea, shiitake, reishi, agaricus and aloe vera polysaccharides work. I don't have the link handy for this but it's easy to look up. Hwever, increased white cell count requires white blood cell proliferation. HGH is a requirement for all types of regeneration, growth, repair and new cell construction; it's the messenger molecule that switches the process on. The thymus gland, the triner and maturer of white blod cells, shrinks with age, but will regain or retain size and function when growth hormone levels are maintained or elevated even in the elderly and those with metabolic syndrome. In most but not all people that growth hormone is adequate for their age, but if one is over about 35, and those with metabolic syndrome, growth hormone levels are absolutely known to be low; that's a central criteria for the conditions of aging and of metabolic syndrome. Here's the PubMed link: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?CMD=search & DB=pubmed where you can enter a search query like (immune GH NOT (autoimmune OR auto-immune). Some people prefer HGH shots to eliminate metabolic syndrome and normalize all cellular growth including the immune system described above. Most anti-aging professionals choose a specific reliable and safer amino acids blend for the purpose. No, you can't just eat eggs and expect your HGH levels to rise; this is a patented product just like the shots but much cheaper. A helpful but more esoteric approach that's quickly becoming a mainstream home remedy is the use of large amounts of electrocolloidal/ionic silver internally. It kills most types of bacteria and virus, without doing much else. I've saved lives with it after the hospital gave up, and I've also seen it reliably get rid of the 100-day flu in under two days, and colds too. You can make your own; all it takes is pure silver, electricity and pure water. Of course, silver alone won't reduce metabolic syndrome or aging, or increase natural cellular responses. regards, Duncan Crow

Guest guest
Carol Earlier this year I had colds and flu for about three months. My daughter sent me a bottle of AstraForte an immune system booster based on chinese medicine. It made a tremendous difference. The product I took is an Australian one but you can probably obtain something similar in UK. http://www.greenridge.com.au/product_detail.asp?productID=2 Bea Carol Fox wrote > > I am so fed up up this. > > Before being dx I would have sore throats in the > winter, that I could accept. Guest guest
> Silver can also cause your skin to turn blue, and this is > irreversible. Beware. Search on " argyria. " Gretchen, most cases of argyria resulted from the overuse of silver proteins and silver nitrate. Both are 1300 to 3600 parts per million, both are medicines and both are known to cause this effect. A few resulted early on from injecting powedered silver and water, technically a colloid. Electrocolloidal / ionic silver on the other hand at 12 parts per million or so, requires about 160 gallons per day dosage to get silver concentrations required, about six grams, because about 90% is excreted in 30 hours. It can't be done, and it hasn't been done with colloidal silver at those doses. Here's the silver community: http://silverlist.org regards, Duncan Crow
