Guest guest
> Doc gave me perscription for Prometrium, a progestrone thing. Anyone know anything about it. Better than cream? She says it is natural and is " what I know so it is what I perscribe. " I have been using the cream for a couple months now - maybe even longer - and cant say I have noticed any dramatic improvement in anything - as far as I know prometrium is NOT natural progesterone it is progestins...like provera - synthetic and not a good thing. Guest guest
As I understand it prometrium is a bioidentical version of progesterone. Here is a website that explains what it is. http://www.families-first.com/hotflash/faq/prometrium.htm > > > > Doc gave me perscription for Prometrium, a progestrone thing. > Anyone know anything about it. Guest guest
yes, thanks. this site put me at ease - it sounds like the prometrium is a safe and natural progesterone. karen Re: progesterone - > As I understand it prometrium is a bioidentical version of > progesterone. Guest guest
Glad I could help. I have heard on the Somersize site of women using this version of progesterone so I found this info on a google search. I hope to be knowing information first hand soon on taking bioidentical hormones but am still in the saliva testing stage and won't be done with that until September....hoping I can hang on that long! > > As I understand it prometrium is a bioidentical version of > > progesterone. Guest guest
is right. Just checked Yahoo health and it is grouped with depo- provera. No mention of it being natural. My guess is it has loads of warnings. Louise >> > - as far as I know prometrium is NOT natural progesterone it is > progestins...like provera - synthetic and not a good thing. Guest guest
Ok, so in all honesty, there appears to be two different messages about it. Some people say that the pormetrium is merely a bioidentical hormone and is " ok " - like the cream, while some others say it is right up there with provera (is that the word for the horse stuff?). The doc who perscribed it said a natural pharmacist kind of person recommends it highly. My oh my. Is life always this confusing? Duh, of course it is. You would think I would have learned THAT by now! ;o) Any suggestions? karen Re: progesterone - is right. Just checked Yahoo health and it is grouped with depo- provera. Guest guest
That would be premarin (PREgnant MARe urINe) --- In NaturalThyroidHormones , " " <kclark@r...> << while some others say it is right up there with provera (is that the word for the horse stuff?). Someone is wrong here, but I think it is the reports that group it with provera...they could not say it was natural or bio-identical if it were not...the provera groupers (lol) must be uninformed.
