Guest guest
OK, I have a question about muscle weakness if any of you can help, I would appreciate it. My arms and hands go thru periods of just feeling weak. My first neurologist dx carpal tunnel, but I think it is more than that. After doing a few arm exercises, I can hardly even hold my telephone to talk or carry anything. It really doesn't go away, but it seems to be much worse the couple of days after exercising my arms. I have seen Mike and talk about having the dropsies, and I don't drop much, my arms just feel very weird inside especially between my elbows and shoulders. I have been doing these exercises now for almost a month, so it's not that my arms haven't been used. Any ideas? Love, Donna
Guest guest
My Urologist and everyone I talked to at the center is taking the Cranberry Juice 3X strength pills 2 each with breakfast lunch & Dinner rather than drinking the juice which seems to give the benefits without having to continuously drink. Just a suggestion seems to help the proton patient radition treatment. > >> > >> The most important question is how high is your PSA, and what's the PSA history? > >> [ProstateCancerSupp ort] Question > >> > >> > >> > >> Hi I am 62 and have an enlarged prostate for sure. Had a urinary test done and my prostate is really big the tester said. I will be sitting up a prostate biopsy but I don't feel it is cancer. If it is just an over size which medicine ( flowmax) that I have been taking isn't helping then surgery is needed to reduce the size. My question is I am going to ask my doc is there a one time surgery for both the reduce and prostate biopsy. Then if it is cancer go from there for treatment. Oh my PSA is high too. > >> > > > > >
Guest guest
PMFJI -- You should be clear about what's being recommended. There's a " trans-rectal ultrasound " -- they stick a probe up your ass, and _observe_ the prostate using ultrasound. This is a " non-invasive " procedure, should have no side-effects. And there's a " trans-rectal biopsy " -- they stick a probe up your ass, and _take samples_ of your prostate with hollow needles. The good doctors use local anaesthetics, and the pain isn't too bad. This procedure is " invasive " , always has short-term side-effects (bloody ejaculate), and _occasionally_ has longer-term side-effects. The only _sure_ test for prostate cancer is the trans-rectal biopsy. It gives tissue samples, and those are analyzed and give a Gleason score. With a PSA of 7, it's likely that the doc is recommending a biopsy. > > Tom thanks for replying. I have a 7.43 PSA they are saying a Ultra sound biopsy on the phone. What is that? I get a recording about my blood test only and can't ask questions until Monday. >

Guest guest
I had the transrectal..with the 10 samples...and yes..invasive..but this time the Dr numbed it..and ASK FOR IT! The first one i had they did not..and it was AWFUL. The untra sound also goes up the rectum..b ut used to mark the spots of the radiation...if that is the treatment you plan on getting. With that psa..a likely one. You will get the Gleason score after the biospy..and if it is 5 or 6..likely they will recommend the seeds..and if 7..the high density or hormone and external radiation. I had a psa of 16...and a gleason of 7...so due to heart issues..and nothing invasive ..they decided ..WE DECIDED..lol. on the hormone and then external radiation..28 doses of the daily! So are..after five...urinary urgency..when you THINK YOU HAVE TO GO..you do..and just a dull achy feeling down there...nothing serious YET! Jim in Waukesha...I'm 72. Guest guest
I have to make a correction regarding the hormone shot. I wrote six weeks..and it should be six months that it lasts. At this point I only have one scheduled..and hope that is all I will need. Side effects of hot flashes..and total impotence and libido..are sometimes difficult to deal with. But after reading what some of the others on this going through...it is not so bad as it sounds. I was not aware of the cranberry pills..with the extra strength. I'll sure look into that. Are those over the counter or do you need a prescription? And..its also a good thing I do like cranberry juice..! THANKS AGAIN...Jim...Waukesha..! Guest guest
...I was given a sheet of optional treatments with the side effects of each..and each was explained in detail..and then TOGETHER..we eliminated the ones that were DEFINITELY OUT..and then went on their recommendation of what would be best based on the Gleason score. If questions..let me know. Jim..Waukesha...psa 16...gleason 7. Guest guest
Jim -- That's better information than most doctors give their patients. > > ...I was given a sheet of optional treatments with the side effects of each..and each was explained in detail..and then TOGETHER..we eliminated the ones that were DEFINITELY OUT..and then went on their > recommendation of what would be best based on the Gleason score.  If questions..let me know. > Jim..Waukesha...psa 16...gleason 7. > > > >
