Guest guest
Missy, My doctor says he has had good luck with this also and recommended the same thing. I am not quite ready to take that measure yet either and found a pain specialist that says he can try nerve blocks etc. I know I have asked the same question and I think one person did respond and said they had a good outcome and it was worth it. Guest guest
I had a vestibulectomy in Feb 2004. It was sore I could not sit down for about a week unless I set on one but cheek or the other. The worst part was that I bruised from front to back on one side but all in all the recovery was not as bad as I thought it would be. I was slow moving for a couple of weeks but I was tiling the shower in my new house the week after the surgery. Just take it slow and have frozen peas on hand. They make great ice packs. I did great for about 6 months and then I began having recurrent BV and my Bartholin glands are slightly enlarged. Some say that scare tissue from the surgery could be causing the gland problem. Other docs say that the repeated infections are causing the problems. I have not talked to any one else that has had that problem but I would make sure to ask about scar tissue and the glands just to double check. I am so glad that I had it done and even now would do it again if I had to. Good Luck! Crissy Vestibulectomy Hi girls, I need input on who has had a vestibulectomy, did it work, was it worth it, what do you know about it, etc... My doctor has done many and feels this is what I need. It scares me, but most of the information I read about it, the success rate is really high. I have vulvar vestibulitis and so far no luck with conservative treatments. I'm still not ready to take the plunge and have surgery, but I wanted your input. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Missy, I advise you to not do it. I had it done 2 years ago and my condition is worse now. The doctor who performed the surgery was very experienced in these surgeries but I have more pain upon touch and constant yeast infections ever since. Guest guest
Lydia----I had a partial vestibulectomy 2 summers ago and it really helped me. I was on summer vacation as I am a School Counselor but I believe I could have gone back to work at about 2 weeks. My recovery was easier than I expected. I used ice packs almost constantly for about the first week. SandyNJ
