Guest guest
Hi from down under, Thanks for the info. I don't know if that applies to me, since my cortisol is high and my adreneline is normal. I recently took my DEXAMETHASONE test and will get the results from the doc late on Tues. He feels that synthroid would be better for me than the armour that I was on briefly. I told him that before going on thyroid meds, I want to find out whats what with my adrenal hormones first. Cushing's syndrome is still looming over my head until it can be ruled out. I am clinging to the fact that Cushings affects about one person out of 100,000 people each year. So that the incidence of Cushings is RELATIVELY rare. > Greetings > Have been following your posts, especially about insomnia and was in > www.thyroidrevolution.com (a rather lengthy document) and the > following paragraph jumped out at me and I felt I should re-produce > it here to see if this helps you. > Under the section Knowledge is Power > " During sleep, the healthy body normally produces cortisol, a > natural form of cortisone. Guest guest
, I forgot to mention that I am sleeping 8 hours a night while off the Armour and about 4 hours on. gary > Greetings > Have been following your posts, especially about insomnia and was in > www.thyroidrevolution.com (a rather lengthy document) and the > following paragraph jumped out at me and I felt I should re-produce > it here to see if this helps you. > Under the section Knowledge is Power > " During sleep, the healthy body normally produces cortisol, a > natural form of cortisone. Guest guest
Hi , I am not trying to go against what your doctor is trying to do, but I will bet that you will experience the exact same effects. The only difference is that it will take about 3-4 weeks for it to occur. This is exactly what happened to me. It just takes that long for the T4 to build up in the body. Unless he gives you a dose meant for a baby, you will have the exact same effects. I was prescribed 75 mcg (which is nothing), and I got more hyper with synthroid than I have with Armour (although a close second). Once again, I have discovered (thanks to Topper suggesting I look again at my vitals), that I just cannot handle 2 grains. This was my second attempt, and although my body indicates an increase at 1 3/4 grains, I just cannot seems to get there. I have looked again at my BP lying down and then again standing up, and it is definately indicative of adrenal issues. I don't know what the answer is for you except that I think I have had the very same issues that you have (high cortisol and adrenaline overload) except my adrenals are now pooped out completely. I think the thyroid hormones were the last straw and I only wish that I had had these great ladies months ago to strongly encourage me to do the adrenal protocol first. If I were you, I would at least get on to high b-complex vitamins and whatever other supplements will help out the adrenals without causing you high blood pressure. Panax ginseng is good too, but I think it may cause high BP. You have to get a really good panax though. P.S. , have you tried the BP test while lying down and then immediately upon standing? The top number should jump up (usually about 10 points). It really is a good indicator. I did this on my husband and his rises every time, while mine drops. Also, you can try the after-flash test. Look at a bright light and then cover your eyes and time how long you see the after-flash. This should only last a few seconds and then fade. Mine lasts about a minute. No joke! Try it!! > > Hi from down under, > > Thanks for the info. I don't know if that applies to me, since my > cortisol is high and my adreneline is normal. Guest guest
, You are probably right about the synthroid causing the same problems if I take it, that is why I am going to persue the adrenal situation first. I don't like the idea of happily taking my synthroid only to discover 3 or 4 weeks down the road that it is causing problems. And with a 21 day half life, the T4 will mess me up for awhile thereafter. I would rather go on a BABY DOSE of Armour and deal with that. I will get my DEXAMETHASONE test results on Tues and will let the group know what the result is. > > > Greetings > > > Have been following your posts, especially about insomnia and was > > in > > > www.thyroidrevolution.com (a rather lengthy document) and the > > > following paragraph jumped out at me and I felt I should re- produce > > > it here to see if this helps you. > > > Under the section Knowledge is Power > > > " During sleep, the healthy body normally produces cortisol, a > > > natural form of cortisone. Guest guest
That sounds like a great plan . I tried the synthroid and levoxyl first, and it was simply HORRIBLE!! Hell to be exact! The Armour has posed some problems and bumps, but I have been much better off. I may quite my meds for awhile and do what you are doing - getting those adrenals up to par. I just want to be normal again. I don't want all the anxiety, worry, jumpiness, insomnia etc... It gets old and tiresome. I feel like I am always " thinking " , even at night and in the middle of the night. I hope you get to that point too . > , > > You are probably right about the synthroid causing the same problems > if I take it, that is why I am going to persue the adrenal situation > first. Guest guest
Well I have had my cortisol tested at night, it is cortisol not adrenaline. Who wrote the thing that this was taken from ? " During sleep, the healthy body normally produces cortisol, a natural form of cortisone. The body builds its store of cortisol all night long while sleeping. Cortisol isproduced in the adrenal glands right alongside the adrenals. But when the adrenal glands become exhausted, they cant produce the right amount of cortisol so as they try in vain, ADRENALINE is RELEASED INSTEAD. So this adrenaline is released all night long. This really aggrevates and compounds the thyroid caused adrenal situation and more SEVERE INSOMNIA results " Perhaps more experienced and knowledgable here can comment on this - but I thought WOW, I can really picture this may be happening to you.best wishes from in OZ (Australia) > >Reply-To: NaturalThyroidHormones >To: NaturalThyroidHormones >Subject: for GARY - Insomnia >Date: Sat, 24 Jul 2004 11:54:31 -0000 >
Guest guest
Greetings amy I read this in www.thyroidrevolution.com under 'Knowledge is Power " section . Perhaps I mis-spelt when I copied it out in handwriting before re typing it in the post. I thought it may help those who are suffering from insomnia to see if this could be a possible cause.jenny in Oz > Well I have had my cortisol tested at night, it is cortisol not adrenaline. > Who wrote the thing that this was taken from ? > > > " During sleep, the healthy body normally produces cortisol, a > natural form of cortisone. Guest guest
there is a big discussion about this article in general on about.com because the writers refuse to identify themselves. I haven't read the whole thing or where they get the inf.. for GARY - Insomnia > >Date: Sat, 24 Jul 2004 11:54:31 -0000 > > > > > >
Guest guest
i skimmed over the website and thought it was strange that they didn't give their names. also didn't see anything about iron. that's why I said to take what they say with a grain of salt. Guest guest
It is like someone took a bunch of articles off 's aboutcom site and threw them together. Also, the fact that the only meds you should take are nutrimends that are over the counter scares me. for GARY - Insomnia > > >Date: Sat, 24 Jul 2004 11:54:31 -0000 > > > > > > > > > > >
