Guest guest
Hi all, Today is my third day of Armour. The only problem I have been having so far, has been the fact that for the last two nights I have been waking up at about 3 or 3:30am, lying awake until maybe 5am then sleeping off and on til about 6:30 or 7am. I go to bed at 10:30pm and fall asleep at shortly after. I don't know if this is a coincidence or Armour related. I am still on my 1grain dose til next Wed when I go up to 2grains. I take 1/2 a grain at 8am and the other half at about 7pm. Thanks,
Guest guest
, yes, that's what I was thinking - adrenal insufficiency is not the same as adrenal fatigue which is usually caused by stress. The 4pm level should definitely be lower but it also be interesting to know what it is at 8pm and midnight - if it is staying high that will certainly cause sleep problems. Sometimes when thyroid meds are started it can spike the adrenals and cause more problems temporarily. Lynda Re: A QUESTION Lynda, My cortisol is supposed to be under 22 in the morning and mine is 34. It is supposed to come down somewhat at 4pm but remains at 34. The doc thinks that I do not have an adrenal tumor. He thinks it might be from stress. In any event, he thinks going on the Armour will reduce my cortisol level. gary
Guest guest
I don't know at what point in your adrenal mess you are in, but you start off with high levels off cortisol because the body gets into that " fight or flight " mode (this may be you). During this you may notice high anxiety, fast heart rate, high BP, irritability and so on. Then they can no longer handle this high level of adrenaline and epinephrine and they start to poop out. You may be in the initial phase. Good luck! > Lynda, > > My cortisol is above the normal range at 8am and it is at the same > level at 4pm. Guest guest
The only tests I trust on this are the ACTH challenge test and the saliva tests for cortisol. If you had one of these two, then yes, you're right. You would have the opposite problem, IF you had one of these two tests. Regular blood draws for cortisol are not accurate.
