Guest guest
Like Wanda, I get bumps from triggering them. Mine are being overheated an= d using cosmetics/creams with comedogenic ingredients. It sounds like heat = is a trigger for you, too. There are lots of tricks for cooling down. You = can try putting a cold pack on the back of your neck when you think you're g= etting too hot. I've found reusable cold packs for $2.79 at the drugstore. = You can drink lots of ice water and stay in the shade. If you have to go o= utside in the sun wear a hat, take a portable fan with you and spray your fa= ce with cold water. I don't like to use oral antibiotics because I took a lot of them when I wa= s a teenager. (I hate the taste of them.) I guess the trade off is being u= ltra careful with triggers. Guest guest
Hi Stepphen, I too have the bumps. The best thing I've found for both redness and bumps is a specially compounded cream. It's base is regular old Noritate to which the pharmacist adds zinc and dimethicone. You should call Pete Heusmann @ College Pharmacy (a special " compounding " pharmacy that can make most anything per your doc's prescription) and talk to him. I was able to get my doc to prescribe the Noritate / zinc / dimethicone stuff, but I forget what exact formula...Pete can tell you, or you can look at Dr. Nase's old posts to this forum. YOu can reach Pete @ College Pharmacy @ . Dawn <7lfhhl$fg1-egroups> wrote: original article:/group/rosacea-support/?start=5870 > Does anyone know why rosacea expresses itself in bumps? Guest guest
Somebody out there please dispute or verify this. I understand that the bum= ps can be at least partially caused by the irritation and inflamation brough= t on by the flushing. Is this fact?? Some of you have found your bumps reduc= ed along w/ your flushing subsequent to photoderm treatments, so it makes se= nse. Guest guest
, When antibiotics failed, without and along with metronidazole, I decided to take Accutane for the bumps. In the past seven months that have gone since I finished my five month long course on the maximum dose for my weight, I've had all in all two or three pimples (one - directly after the treatment - needed a steroid shot), instead of two or three or more daily! It was worth it, in spite of all side effects. I am now concentrating on the dilated veins and the burning sensation in the red areas of the face. For that I'm undergoing Photoderm treatment which is also supposed to treat the acne component; the papules and the broken vessels seem to be connected somehow. After this I'm turning to my ocular symptoms - and am still waiting for Dr. Nase to write about successfull treatments of the eyes. Guest guest
Dawn, I follow your logic. However, I find I get bumps from overheating --= like exercising too much, sitting in a very hot room, etc. I don't seem to get them when I turn red from embarassment/stress. For me, the differen= ce may be with the height that the body temperature goes to and how long it = takes for my body to cool down once it goes beyond the " rosacea " threshold. = Under stress/embarassment, my body doesn't get as hot as it does as when I = overexercise. I don't know if this is correct or not, but I do happen to no= tice the distinction. In fact, if I take a shower right after I exercise I = get no zits. When I wait for 15 minutes and then shower, I can count on a c= ouple of zits. That's been my experience anyway... Guest guest
Do your bumps go away. My face is dotted with tiny red spots that never go away, only become more or less red, depending on who knows what? I don't get generalized flushing. I would be interested in how your bumps look. Ann, if you notice that the tiny red spots fade when you take Ibuprofen (Advil), they're probably broken blood vessels or telangiectasia. I had one on each cheek and one on the tip of my nose that seemed worse on some days, better when I took Advil (for a different reason). During the month I was on tetracycline it really went down a good deal but became noticeable again after I had been off it a while. All three marks were zapped yesterday by pulsed dye laser. Doc told me that treatment should last up to five years before I might need more. Basically all they look like is a pore that's been raised about the size of a pin-head. I don't know if it's a clogged pore, or a papule, pastule, or something caused by yeast. I have no idea at this point, but not much seems to affect them. I think the photoderm would take care of these, but I'm not entirely sure.
