Guest guest
Tim, No offense, but you are so Totally WRONG! There is Nothing at all in this world that works for Nervous System Pain except for Narcotics. And, not only that, No, you don't continually have to up the dosage on those meds. Some here in this group has been on the same dose now as they started on a year, two years or more ago. Barbara is one of them that has been on a med at the same dose that long... I've been on certain meds for 1-2 years and not have had them upped..... Once you can find the right combination of meds to help you, some people never does have to up the dosage. And, Again....IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE INDIVIDUAL. Certain Narcotics are the only things that does help Spinal Cord Pain/Pain. Everything else just helps the Narcotics calm the pain down.....but can't do it themselves. Guest guest
Tonia, I called my pain doctor today and told him that I just couldn't deal with it any more, well actually I had talked to his nurse or a receptionist. Anyway she took the information and said she would call me back. Well, it is 8:42 PM and I don't think they are working this late. Like I have said before, if it was them or someone they loved, they would do something, I am tired of trying to find someone to help me. I am tired of dealing with the pain, I don't know how much longer I can go on with this crap. Tim, I appreciate your point of view on the narcotics, a lot of people are afraid of them. When they had me on Vicadin (sp?) 2 years ago, they had to keep giving me more and more and then it was loratab/loracets, more and more of them. Not due to an increase of dependency, but because they were not controlling the pain. Then another doctor took me off of all of my medication all at once. I was sick for 3 weeks and I almost died. My husband kept calling the doctor but he said it was the stomach flu. They only thing that kept me alive was my husband putting me on a protein drink, I could keep it down for about 15 min. and then he would make me try again. The withdrawl was horrible but I made it then another doctor put me right back on it! This time my doc took me off slowly and I didn't have any withdrawl. So there are consequences of taking it, but not addiction, but chemical dependency, your body gets use to it, I had no problem not taking any medication if I wasn't in pain, but if I was in pain, then I took it. Now, I am trying to find a doctor to help me, the others feel like they had done their job so I no longer have medications to help me. I went to a pain doctor and he put me on Neurontin, but that takes time and I need more now! I have been off of narc/opiods since last year, so it isn't like I am some drug addict looking for a fix. Things didn't work as we hoped, the RSD spread and now I am in total pain again. The stimulator isn't working as well as we hoped. I was told when the put it in that it might be possible that we would have to use drugs also but just not as high of a dose. Now I can't find a doctor to help me. Anyway, thats my story. Thanks Again, Tonia wrote: Tim, No offense, but you are so Totally WRONG! There is Nothing at all in this world that works for Nervous System Pain except for Narcotics. Guest guest
Tim, Thanks for the encouragement, I waited all day and still no phone call, now, I have to wait until Tuesday, OH WELL! I am no one important, just some woman with a psych problem right? ilducks2004 wrote: ,I am sorry that your condition has gotten so bad, and I do hope they can get you on somehting that will lessen it.I would call that doctor ever hour tomorrow untill you hear back from him!Tim
Guest guest
Jo, I may wait until tomorrow and see what it brings, I know the pain will be the same if not worst but I would like to discuss this with my hubby and he is already in bed. He is sick with a cold so he went to bed early, I have the cold too and it has settled in my broncial tubes so I cough all night and keep him awake. Thanks for the encouragement, jomal1@... wrote: ,That is simply not true, that you aren't important. What their lack of response means is that THEY are simply uncaring people.I would not wait. The Dr. has an answering service, so it may be the best time to actually reach him. Call the service, tell them you must speak to the Dr. as soon as possible. You are fairly certain that the Dr. will receive your message, or at least a Dr. on call will.Try to be calm, explain that you've been trying to reach them since Thursday AM and you simply do not know what to do.... You're in so much pain without relief and you need something prescribed to help you through this. The Dr. cannot call in narcotics, the pharmacies will not fill them without a handwritten RX. I recently was prescribed a pain med called Avinza. I am not sure if it is a narcotic... Of course, I would up itching like crazy from it, so had to discontinue... I also take Excedrin PM at times to help with some of the aching pain and it does help me sleep some. Please, call the answering service, try to get the Dr. on the phone. If he does not respond.. my suggestion is to find a new Dr. as soon as you possibly can.Hugs,Jo
Guest guest
If he does not respond.. my suggestion is to find a new Dr. as soon as you possibly can. Definately! It is sometimes difficult to distinguish whether the office staff is not getting the doctor the messages or if the doctor is not paying attention. Several years ago I had one doctor's office reverse my phone number, my husband called the answering service several times and made them repeat the phone number back to him the last time. The doctor at the time did return the call however he had been dialing the wrong area code! Call and call again until you get thru but make sure they have the correct phone number, also have them give you the number the doctor was given and ask them for the times the calls were given to the doctor. Hoping for Pain Free Days,Sandi
