Hi Everyone,

My name is Christy and I just bought the Atkins diet book Yesterday. I'm

about half way through the book and plan on starting the Induction on

Monday. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and getting any tips and

feedback anyone wants to offer. I'm hoping this will be a diet I can stick

with and that it works. If anyone would also like to ever chat my ICQ# is

40801144. I'm on most nights for a little bit sometime after 5:30-6:00.

Hi, my name is Michele.

I just started the Atkins diet 6 days ago, and I have been looking around for

alternate sources of

information from the book (New diet revolution) as his initial information is

very helpful, but a

little sketchy. I have a lot of weight to lose, and am not in a huge hurry to do

it, I am just

concerned with two things 1) improving/maintaining my health and 2) not gaining

it back (with

interest) in the end like on all other diets I've tried.

So far, I've been in ketosis for each of the 5 days I've had the keto-diastix,

and in total (if I

believe my new scale, which I haven't decided yet) I have lost a total of 3

pounds. This could be

counted as 5-7, depending on which weight we take as the initial weight -- the

one in the store

where I bought the scale, the one immediately upon returning home, or the one

the following

morning. I'm taking morning since my " official " daily weight measurements will

be the mroning ones

going forward.

Is it normal to lose 3 lbs one day, gain 1.5 the next, lost .5 the next, then

gain 2 the next? I

haven't broken the diet as far as eating more than 20g carbohydrates, but I am

definitely

struggling with drinking all the water.

Sue,

I went there and tried to download, but my computer just sat there for

several minutes...didn't even start downloading. Does it take a while

before it starts downloading. Just wondering if anyone else experienced

this?

Hi Liz!!!!....I wondered what the heck happened to you,and finally asked Sue

this morning.........So it was a pleasent surprise to see your post this

evening!....So many people are taking vacations, lucky stiff's!!!... Yes, it

does seem as if you have alot on your plate now...How come you had to go off

Atkins, did it cause your illness?....I really did miss all your posts, your

so informative, and caring......will say a pray for your recovery!...judi

Hi to all,

My name is Terry...

I got serious with getting the pounds off in May...

I lost 10 lbs. doing (PROTEIN POWER & CARBOHYDRATE ADDICT'S DIET.)

My husbands business partner told me to try ATKINS _______in 6 months he lost

50 lbs.

I can't get off the induction weeks cause I cheat with 1 T. of peanut butter

a day or a diet coke....I have lost only 3 lbs. more and I can't get those

darn sticks to go beyond med. purple.

I have been on vacation and have been a bad girl and gained 3 lbs. back...

I'm feeling down needless to say...

I am back in the saddle today....

I am hoping I am not resistant to this diet

I have walked 4 miles every morning (takes me 1 hour) since May 6 DAYS A WEEK

I feel like those little cheats should not have kept me from losing more

weight...

Happy I found you guys and I hope we all have a great week!!!

It sounds like you are doing great so far. I know we all want the weight

just to drop off, but there are many factors which we have to look at. My

weightloss has slowed considerably, but I only have 15 more lbs. to lose, so

I think those last pounds will take longer to come off. I work-out 5 times a

week doing step, aerobics, spin classes, Jazzercise, weight classes and I too

was hoping for a quick 25 lb. loss, but now I'm happy with this WOE and any

loss period.

As for the ketosticks you want to stay in moderate. As long as you are in

ketosis you are fine. If you are in the large amounts zone you need to drink

more water because prolonged time at this level can cause damage to your

kidneys. (My pharmacist warned of this and I have read about this several

times since then.)
