Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I am wondering if anyone elses child flaps there arms when excited ? Dylan does this when he loves a song or likes a movie , but no other times ? It is the one thing that makes people think he is Autistic . He has been tested 3 times now and all three have come to conclusion that he has Motor planning problems and Severe Apraxia . But I still wonder about the arm flapping ? Can this also be a motor Planning issue ? or is it more Autistic? And what can you do to help him stop doing it? It is the thing that makes him stand out in among his peers .His eye - contact , social skills are all good , playing is immature ,but I think that might be motor planning ? I would love any suggestions . Thanks so much ! I hope everyone is having a nice , WARM weekend Marie
Guest guest
Hi Marie, It is my understanding that Arm flapping and the hand flapping is all apart of the motor planning disfunction, my dd will twist her wrists when she sees a movie she likes or anything that she is looking at that interests her. I tell her to stop flying in jokingly/loving way and she (99%) of the time stops. There is that 1% when she is watching the words from the end of the movie scroll up the screen. She is a visual stimmer. I hope this helps. Traci
