Guest guest
Another man for the group .. welcome .. sorry you had to get bit by the Lupus wolf .. but I am glad you found our group. I maintain a website with information on Lupus and many of the secondary diseases that seem to come along with Lupus. And the people here are a great bunch .. we dont care if you whine .. but we wont let you get so depressed you get to be a danger to yourself.. we will step in to help. smiles.. In your letter to us, you mentioned a fluttery feeling in the chest. A lot of lupus patients have those symptoms. Lupus affects the muscles ... makes them spasm .. ache .. tingle. Sometimes the chest wall will get inflamed which gives you pain in the chest area. The diaphragm can also spasm .. pushing upwards on the heart causing arrhymias or pain. You also mentioned your fingers turning white .. has your doctor mentioned Raynaud's Phenomenon? It is an auto immune disease that affects the arteries in the hands and feet. The arteries spasm cutting off blood circulation and the fingers, hands, toes, or feet will change colors from a blanched white to a deep blue to a red flushed color. Ask him about it. Take care .. Guest guest
Hi ...thanks for the response. I am certainly getting a good education on this thing thanks to this site. Went to doc today and test results showed my lupus to be non-systemic. He had a mile long word for the type I have but the best i have been able to learn, it is more of a skin type thing with achey muscles etc..I will surely ask him about the raynauds phenomenon. I described this to one of his interns and he told my doctor but nothing was said to me about it. I dont get the deep blue color as you described just the white fingers and feet and this is usually due to cold water or weather. As for the chest spasms, I was sure wondering if it was due to the lupus. I have had 3 endosopic exams and found no real significant problems. They diagnosed it as acid reflux and Hiatia hernia and prescribed Prevacid to treat it. Still got the jumpy stuff going on. I also get the twitchy things in my shoulder muscles and calve muscles. Thanks again for all the great information. Bill.
