Hi all,

My son was found eligible to receive case management services from

our counties disability office.

Just wondered if anyone else receives this and what kind of

assistance you get from it.

Be very thankful you're getting these services. Here in Oregon the wait list is

over three years long to get in for this due to all of our wonderful budget cuts

and the best governor in the world who ironically is a physician. We also have

the second (but we were the first for quite awhile) highest unemployment rate in

the nation. Vacation here but never move here!

As for the services, it may depend on which state you are living in but here in

Oregon case management means that your case manager can attend IEP/IFSP meeting

with you which at times helps to keep the school district in line. It may also

mean that you get a monthly budget to help your family. Again, in Oregon, I

know of people who receive money for respite, money for clothing to help replace

clothing that their child destroys due to his disability, and money for visual

aides such as boardmaker to help make schedule systems for the child. Here in

Oregon, it can also mean that your child would be eligible for Medicaid though

at the county level there is still an income cap on that. At the state level

that my son is thankfully at, there is a waiver so he has medicaid regardless of

income. Personally, I'd ask your case manager what services are available but

hopefully I've given you a taste of what may be available for you.

Happy holidays!
