Guest guest
Hello njburk@... (), In reference to your comment: è I found provocative testing for ischemia but nothing è else. Provokable is not a word, but since when did that è stop a doctor from inventing his own? , I think you've hit the nail on the head, and " provokable " is one of those back formations. I stuck with provokable since logic tells me since it's provoked and provoking, then IF provokable were a word, it would also have the k and be provokable. Thanks to all who answered. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't losing my mind and that maybe someone could actually document the word. Thanks again to all who answered Jan " Typing is my life " (said sarcastically) Remember... Guest guest
OK, thanks J.L. We'll dismiss " provocative " (was simply thinking out loud). Sorry. However, I think we can go with the " c " as I did finally locate something to sink my teeth into ... (Stedman's Radiology - pg. 676 lists " provocable ischemia. " Ah, I do see the difference, and JFYI (and mine), it also lists: provocative testing. I'll make huge mentals notes of those!! Shel provocable or provakable? > > > > I've checked my actual book Webster's dictionary, as well as my Webster's > > electronic dictionary and I cannot document provokable (?)... As in > > provokable ischemia or provokable angina in a cardiology H & P I'm doing. > > Anybody know? Thanks in advance. BTW, I also checked Stedman's > > Cardiology/Pulmonary words, and no luck there either. > > > > > > > > Jan " Typing is my life " (said sarcastically) > > Remember...
