Sally and Shaywitz will co-deliver "Overcoming Dyslexia: Translating Research into Practice" at The Scheck Hillel Community Day School/The Ben Lipson Hillel Community Day School March 24 at 7:30PM (19000 NE 25th Avenue, North Miami Beach). This presentation will shed new light on dyslexia, offering insight and best practices for working with children. Hillel's Nativ program is pleased to present this special event. Nativ is South Florida's only dyslexia program designed exclusively for Jewish day school students. "We applaud Hillel for their leadership role in initiating Nativ, the first program in a South Florida Jewish day school to have a self-contained program dedicated to providing multisensory, language-based instruction for students with dyslexia." -Drs. and Sally Shaywitz Sally E. Shaywitz, M.D., is the Audrey G. Ratner Professor in Learning Development at the Yale University School of Medicine and Co-Director of the newly formed Yale Center for Dyslexia & Creativity. Her widely acclaimed book, Overcoming Dyslexia, details the latest scientific findings in dyslexia and how to translate this scientific knowledge into clinical practice in everyday situations. A. Shaywitz, M.D., is the and Helen Schwab Professor in Dyslexia and Learning Development, Chief of Pediatric Neurology and Co-Director of the newly formed Yale Center for Dyslexia & Creativity at the Yale University School of Medicine. He is both a child neurologist and neuroscientist who has devoted his career to better understanding and elucidating the neurobiological basis of reading and dyslexia.
