HI Judi,

Welcome, ;)

It depends on what that biopsy says as to whether the creams (steroid) will help or not. I saw when you joined this list that you thought you might have Lichen Sclerosis and if that's so, then yes steroids are the first protocol to use. It's often suggested for many stubborn dermatological problems (if no infections) although with a lesser strength than that suggested for LS. But it can help hon as long as it's not overused. That is the key.

Usually just a peasize dab enough to make a 'light' film over the area (don't overuse it) BELIEVE ME... and then gently massage it in, don't let it or any med just lay on top of that skin, it may make you more susceptible to a yeast infection and you sure don't want that.

Usually after a months usage you definitely should be tapering down, (don't quit it cold turkey or else you may have what they call a 'rebound' effect. And overuse will cause you to have even worse symptoms than you started with. They're very potent medications especially those class 1's used with LS like Clobetasol or Temovate, Dermovate and others and can thin that tissue easily if abused. I hope your physician told you that.

I did invite you to join the LS group as well hon at:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LichenSclerosis/ of course that's up to you as we specifically focus in and talk about LS with much information there. I sure wish you well and know the hell that can be. I'm so sorry but just know there is hope and help. Many have been made well and so can you be.;)

Hugs

Dee~
