adrenal support comparison?

Hi,

I'm interested in doing some kind of adrenal support and I was wondering if

someone could put a chart in the files regarding the dosage and description of

the different kinds of adrenal support, such as Cortef, Deltacortil, etc. I've

seen explainations in the list but it gets so confusing trying to compare one to

the other. I know I'm asking a lot of you already busy people and I don't take

it lightly.

Hi, Shelli,

I'm sure someone will answer your request and may have already done so. But

briefly the difference in Cortef (hydrocortisone) and Deltacortil (prednisilone)

is that Cortef is natural and therefore, is taken 3 or 4 times a day, usually

for a total daily dosage of 20 mg. Deltacortil is a synthetic that is easier for

your body to use than prednisone, but it's 4 times stronger than Cortef.

Therefore, it's taken once because the 5 mg. is equal to 20 mg. of Cortef.

The basics to remember is 20 mg. a day and the synthetic is 4 times stronger

than the natural.

basically the same...deltacortril is prednisolone...just a bit chemically

different to go thru the liver easier.

they are the same...just go by different names, and the delta is

enteric coated.

I've been on it I actually thought about taking my own life. That's

not usually me. Even with diagnosed depression, I've only thought

about that when on prednisone.

I would say this:...people don't usually take such tiny amounts...I

would also gain a lot quickly on a pharmacologic dose of pred

(meaning, the high dose they usually prescribe)..I would try it

anyway..if it doesn't agree with you then stop..it's a very small

amount. and start with just one - which is 2.5 mg for a few days

first.

my PDR says prednisolone and prednisone are the same thing - but I

will go with your explanation because you must have read that

somewhere. And deltacortril is prednisolone with an enteric coating.

If I understand correctly, Deltacortil is prednisilone which is the form of

prednisone that is easier on your body. It's still 4 times stronger than Cortef,

just like Prednisone. And you take it once a day like Prednisone. So it is the

same except it's easier for your body to use than prednisone.
