Guest guest
Sheri et all: " You can easily go to the Medicare site online and dig around for an hour to find out the most up-to-date information that applies in your state. " Acutally what I did was call the Bureau of Insurance in my New England state and they sent me a brochure of all medigap providers for my state. What is confusing about the Medigap plans is that they come in about 9 different levels of care labeled A through I......so each state should be able to offer this information to their medicare recipients to help with the proces.....best, Beth

Guest guest
hello to all, my daughter jessica who is 17 and a senior in high school has just been given the possible diagnosis of JRA. she is suffering a lot with joint pain tho they have put her on celebrex for now which seems to be finally giving her some relief . she is missing on average 1-2 days a week of school. we are heading to cleveland clinic next week ( we're in ohio) for further evaluation. really appreciate this site as it has helped me to learn so much and feel a little more reassured. actually the diagnosis is almost a relief after 6 weeks of returning to doctors and no one really being able to figure out what was going on. I just met with her teachers this morning to get a 504 plan in action... luckily i've got a head start on this one as I teach special ed and am well familiar with them.. just never dreamed I would need one for my own daughter's senior year. thanks to all for sharing... so glad i found this site! marybeth
Guest guest
beth, Welcome. My 17 year old son was also just diagnosed with JRA this month. This membership has been wonderful. I still only know enough to fill a thimble - which explains any fears I may have. The more I learn the better I feel. You'll find this is a great support group. I've found that if I have questions about anything, I simply ask and within a very short time, I have answers, suggestions, and past experiences. It's wonderful!! Make sure they are reputable, know how to treat your disease. Good luck to you, I hope you get those feet taken care of. It's the only ones you have. If you have a good orthopedic doc, maybe he can refer you to a good podiatrist. If not, there are wound care centers that might be able to help. Guest guest
Hi Patsy here, I too love gardening, both veggies & flowers. I overdo it, but its the best darn therapy there is! My father was a gardener, (HUGE), half an acre. I helped him every year, pushed a tiller, the whole nine yards, but I loved it. Ruth my dad also worked very hard, (had CMT, but he never ever knew), actually it hasn't been that long that we found out about it. My father never complained, & he worked in steel mill & had lots of walking to do. & Becky, I am part Cherokee Indian to. I was a tomboy too, loved anythng to do w/ outdoors, still do, but I am limited now too. I love hiking, & when I can I pick up a stick to hold on to. Don't any of you, your feet hurt sooo bad you can't hardly be on them, & have anyone heard of bones on bottom of feet pushing through the side of foot by the small toe. This happened to my half-bro whom I have never met, ( he lives in CO.) That I think is happening to me. I am trying to get appt. to MDA in Feb. The side of foot by small toe is widening out & I have places on bottom that are reddish even sometimes black. dried blood) I went to a podiatrist & he took pics & said they didn't go thru. I guess its not an ulcer. He put pieces of foam inside shoes to take pressure off, but by the time I got home they were wrinkled up & out of place. Docs around hereare totally worthless! Guest guest
patsy1128@... wrote: > have anyone heard of bones on bottom of feet pushing through the > side of foot by the small toe. Hi Patsy, I had to have all the toe bones, part of the arch itself, calf, and heel bones removed from both feet due to bone deformation and atrophying. The podiatrist that did the surgeries put metal surgical shunts in to hold the toes straight, but with the atrophying they moved so now I truly have wiggly toes. My first surgery was back in the mid 70's, he told me then he believed I had cmt a form of muscular dystrophy but I didn't want to hear it and told him when it got bad enough if it ever did I would go to the MDA and have them do something. The bones actually did protrude outside of the skin looking kind of weird like I grew an extra toe where one shouldn't have been. It was somewhat painful but I had limited sensations in both legs since being a teenager so the pain wasn't the big deal, it really didn't hurt enough to complain. I am fortunate now, though some would say I'm not, I have no sensations whatsoever in the legs or the hands up to the elbows. I have found the best physicians are at teaching medical center university hospitals. My neurologist and the podiatrist are both there. I no longer see the podiatrist as I don't walk anymore, but do see the neurologist, also now a urologist for the kidney and bladder atrophy. He is also at the medical university. Good luck with the foot. leslie

Guest guest
Hi le, I was thinking about you the other day. Wondering if you were still here. How have you been? I'm doing well. I'm still not at my goal yet, but I'm a lot closer. My stomach is finally trying to catch up in losses with the rest of my body. If you remember my stomach was my hardest area to lose from, however between belly flatteners, digestive enzymes and colon cleansing it's finally shrinking quite a bit. " Yea!!!!!! " It's exciting, I've had this bubble belly for as long as I can remember and now it's finally going away. I've been trying to stick with eating a little less, but I've messed up so much lately. I'll do good for a week or so, mess up for a couple of days, get back to it and do ok for a week, mess up again etc. etc. If I could just stick with it for a whole month it would be a miracle. :-) I'm consistently losing inches doing LL with no eating changes. However I lose quicker when I cut back on eating. My goal for eating is to eat about 30 pts. on the WW diet, which of course is more pts. then they go by, however with LL the inches and lbs. melt quicker just by cutting back a little. Now if I could just be as consistent at cutting back on portions as I am with breathing and drinking water. Love, Liz ----- Hey Liz!
