Guest guest
I only live an hour from Pittsburgh, so I am definitely going to the conference. My husband will join me Sat and Sun.... Pittsburgh has a top-notch zoo, a science center that is really cool and interactive, a GREAT museum of natural history, a children's museum (lots of Mr. stuff, he lived here all his life). There is an incline you can ride if your kids like that. Of course waterparks and stuff like that. No BIG amusement parks close by, though. There is a little fun park in (which is about 45 mins away from Pittsburgh) with go karts, mini golf, speed track, bumper boats, etc etc etc. I am really looking forward to the conference. Hammer is the SLP who diagnosed my son, and I am looking forward to gleaning info from EVERYONE, pros AND parents! See you in July!
Guest guest
Hi- I am sure that there is registration information on the Apraxia Kids website, as they are the sponsors of the conference. > Can someone please tell me how I can sign up to go to this conference, I only > live 45 about an hour away as well. Guest guest
It's not BIG, but Kennywood is a pretty decent park. Or if you want something with a little more quiet time occasionally, out in Ligonier (about an hour east of Pittsburgh) there is Idewild park. They have a nice kiddie land for younger kids, and even on the adult rides kids can get on if accompanied by an adult. They also have a train that goes to the other side of the park, a circus tent there they do shows, Storybook Forest you can walk through, an area with lots of things to climb and jump around in, and some quiet wooded areas you can walk through. They have paviallions and picnic tables too. I read something a couple of years ago where Idewild was voted one of the top family oriented parks in the country. We wind up there every year for hubby's company picnic. What I really like is when the girls were real small, in the larger restrooms they have areas set up for breastfeeding moms, or anyone really, to sit and rest. The restrooms are air conditioned and they had rockers sitting there, and the area with the changing tables too. I found those after Hope refused the bottles of milk we had taken for her once. So little totally self-consicous me too the plunge and put her in a sling carrier and nursed her while I walked through the park. I had said from the time I said I was going to breastfeed her that I didnt think I'd be able to do it in pubic because I was so uptight. But I did.
