I'm so sorry that Kailin had to miss her zoo trip. That is such a bummer. It

remains to be seen whether or not Kate will be going to camp. She started back

on inhaled Gentamycin on Tuesday. She is starting to sound a little better now.

Kate is 12 and this was to be her first trip away from home, that was not with

relatives. Thanks for the clarification on the R117 mutation. I have never

heard of the theraPEP. What exactly is that?

My brother was offered the option of being tested for carrier status when he and

his wife were starting their family. They declined because his wife wasn't

aware of any CF in her family. They have two boys now and they have been

advised to have the baby tested for cf by their ENT dr. who wasn't even aware of

a family history. After she expressed alarm (He was surprised that she knew what

it was) then he said that it was just a precaution and that there are different

kinds of cf and that if he did have it, it wasn't the bad kind of CF! I guess

he meant degrees of severity. Just a funny way to put it I thought! I really

hope my little nephew doesn't have it though.

- I sure hope feels better. Let us know how she does this

weekend.

Welcome Liesbeth! When Kate was little we used to let her jump on the

trampoline in place of CPT. It worked better than CPT for getting everything

loosened up in there! I have never heard of ball therapy for CF though.

- My daughter has had endless stomach aches starting when she was about 8.

They were not as severe as the way you describe 's but they definitely

were painful. She was put on Zantac about a year ago but we didn't notice a

dramatic change in them until just recently. Kate has just complained less and

less about them. I just don't know what they were because nothing we did

seemed to help! I hope that you will be able to find something for that

will help her.

I asked our docors about the swimming pool risks since mine spend so much time

in the water and was told that the benefits of the exercise outweigh any risks

from germies in the water.

Today is the last day of school for the summer! Woohoo! We are heading for the

pool!
