Guest guest
How much ProEFA do most people give to their children on a daily basis? I just started giving ProEFA to my daughter (18 months) and my son (4 1/2). I'm giving them one capsule in the morning. I've been putting my daughter's in applesauce and my son's on his waffle. My daughter weighs about 23 lbs and my son weighs about 43 lbs. Thanks, Debbie
Guest guest
Debbie - We don't use ProEFA but use either the GNC brand or a fish oil supplement from Walgreens (that checks out in terms of freshness, manufacturing and packaging methods, etc.) - both have, for a two cap dosage (which we split a.m. and p.m.) 360 EPA and 240 DHA. We also give Josh evening primrose oil which contains 45 GLA. He is 4.4 yrs old and weighs 48 pounds (he's doing great on these dosages and does not appear to have hit a plateau yet - when he does we'll play with the dosages). Sherry, , (typical 15-year-old), and (4 and trying very, very hard!)

Guest guest
Eileen: One question. My son who is 2.7 years has been on only one Pro-EFA capsule for approx. 2 months now. I just started adding another capsule in his morning juice 2 days ago. Last night was hell. He literally could not sleep between 1:30 - 4:30 am. He was not crying or upset, just could not sleep. Have you or anyone had experience with this? I eliminated the capsule this morning to see where we end up tonight (hopefully in bed). Thanks, Kim seanzonigal <seanzonigal@ho cc: (bcc: S. Guest guest
-Hi Kim, I never had that expierence with the pro-efa and loss of sleep. I would go back to 1 pill and leave it at that until you see maybe a plateau. Or try again in a couple of days before you give 2 and see what happens, if he is up again just go and Stay at 1. That I have heard of from other parents. We just added extra EPA into Jacks I started Wednesday, where I added only 1/2 the pill 2days in a row and yesterday, he was out of control, It was if he was on speed. It could have been that I gave him the 2 pro-efa's in the morning and also the extra EPA all at once, so today I did nothing with the EPA and so far no hyperness, I will try again tomorrow and if he is hyper like he was yesterday than I know it was the EPA and I will take him off of it. I only added 1/2 of capsul but it could be just too much omega 3 for him. Hope this helps, eileen
Guest guest
Eileen: YES! Your comments helped a lot and thanks for replying. FYI, I called Nordic Naturals to order my new bottle of Pro-EFA, and I told the customer service person what happened last night, the dosages I have been giving, etc. (He was really nice)! He did tell me that if I gave the " new " dose of morning EPA on an empty stomach...it could elevate his blood flow and cause a disruption in sleep patterns. Makes sense, since I gave it to him before I left for work in the morning and before breakfast. Further, I usually give his evening EFA during dinner, but last night.....he didn't drink it until bedtime. Both of these probably caused the sleepless night. But yes, I am cutting back to one dose....and I will try again next weekend to see what happens. Somehow we are all going to figure this thing out!
