What kind of insulin are you taking, Kay?

Are you pleased with that 7.2? Do you have any complications? You do know

that complications can eventually accrue at that A1C, don't you?

If you could get your A1C below 6 you could probably totally avoid

complications. If you already have neuropathy you could possibly reverse it

by getting your A1C down below 6 and keeping it there. And you could do

this by taking Humalog matched to carbs.

Carb counting isn't rocket science...and it sure makes getting good BGs a lot

easier.

Vicki, who is Seriously Math Impaired but can count carbs, smile.

Well, gosh, are the food police going to check your purse or pocket when you

go to the movie? A tin of Velamints of your own is a lot easier to sneak in

a theater than a home-popped back of popcorn (though I've done that too,

pre-diabetes, smile).

Well, that's what I'm saying...by matching carbs to insulin you could easily

lower it from 7 to 6 or below. And if you did that you might be able to

reverse your neuropathy or keep it from getting worse. Certainly would be

worth a try. For this purpose though, straight Humalog, not a mix of Humalog

and whatever the other part of the 75/25 is is the insulin to use.

What are you using for basal insulin?

Cataracts may or may not be diabetic related. Most of us - even nondiabetics

- get them as we age - darnit.

I've been checking out the chocolate substitutes. So far, yech!

Ross? OK I'll see what I can find on the web browser. Thanks for the

suggestion.

I'm not having too much trouble with cravings now but if I do, i am sure it

will be chocolate that gets me.

I guess my martial arts training is getting me through this okay. When I

finally decided what i was going to do about this blood sugar thing, it just

becomes a matter of training your body. It takes time, be patient, practice

everday, and see food for

what it is...fuel. Low carbing has zapped my appetite and i am even losing

some

weight.

So far, I am happy with the trade off and knowing it is my choice what to eat

and

whether i am going to suffer huge spikes in my blood sugar or not.

Sure there is tempting stuff. When I ask myself if it is worth it? No. I

just don't want to be sick....

Getting ready to fix dinner...cheeseburger and salad with a cup of tea.
