Guest guest
& , You might want to double check before switching to United HealthCare, unless you can get the United Healthcare, FEDERAL plan. I currently have UHC choice, and I'm changing to Aetna PPO (my only other option) in Jan.. The reason being because I was told by UHC that they have 5 different plans; depending on what state your in, and what plan your employer decided to contract with them and subsequently offer you. Out of these 5 plans only federal employees ( & their families), holding the UHC Federal plan could get approved because the government requires all ins. companies they use to cover WLS or they won't contract with them. The remaining 4 UHC plans exclude ALL WLS. I chose Aetna because at the very least they will cover RNY, although, I'd hate to go that way...only as a last resort. There are a few postings on this site that say some people with Aetna are getting approved, even after August 2000--when they started listing BPD/DS as an exclusion. is one of them if you can find her post, it's very encouraging. So maybe there's hope yet for us Aetna people wanting DS. Best of luck with both your approvals (and mine too , Jennie/KY > - > > Have you considered United HealthCare as an option?
