Antibiotics can lead to a bout with acid reflux. Try taking some OTC Zantac,

Prilosec or that purple pill which name I can't think of that. It's

prescription version is now called Nexium. And avoid foods that cause more

acid. The

heartburn should clear up in a couple of weeks, but if it doesn't, see your

doctor. It's possible the antibiotic has caused an ulcer.

acid neutralizing Maalox Maxx's 3 times a day. Take the first 2 doses

1/2 hour after meals and the last just before you lay down at night.

You can also take any OTC acid reducer like Pepcid according to label

instructions. Pepcid works faster than Prilosec and Nexium.

Thanks Shirley!!! My doctor is not in today (of course, she seems

to only work 10 hours a week). I was considering going to the health

clinic but always feel bad that I am taking up time someone worse off

could use. I just wish the doctors in this small town worked more

hours.

Anyway..I'll take the above until then.

Any ideas what happened? I sure hope this isn't going to be a

permanant thing.

You mentioned that your heartburn is worse in the morning. Maybe it would help

to drink a couple glasses of water (not all at once but over a period of half an

hour) when you get up because you are most likely dehydrated and lubricating

yourself would possibly prevent part of your discomfort.

THanks Ora...I just read that same thing on the net. I'll give that

a try as well. I'm going to drink more water all day today as well.

I'm going to try and get into the Rural Health Clinic. Don't know if

they consider this urgent or not but my doctor is not going to be

available until next week.

Thanks again!!
