Guest guest
Weigh Your Success Without A Scale! Do you cringe every time you step on a scale? Are you anxious just before your weigh-in day? Does weighing yourself result in elation or depression? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may want to read on! Traditional weight loss programs measure only pounds lost when evaluating success. Too many of us are hung up on the scale to validate ourselves. I am here to say to you that the scale is not what you should look to for confirmation. Because there are so many components to healthy living, it’s time to recognize that the scale does not account for any but one of these variables. Weight is merely a number and this number is NOT an indication of WHO you are! Ask yourself why you have made this number the tell-all of who you are? Yes, society may attempt to dictate what we should weigh according to our height and body frame, but society has always neglected to account for good health. I am speaking of our emotional, psychological, intellectual and physical well-being. Our overall wellness is far more important than the number that little piece of equipment shows us. We are made up of so very many facets that it’s time to give ourselves credit for everything else we do, think and feel! I have listed several ways in which you can measure your success on a daily or weekly basis. Measuring success in this way will allow you to be aware of your achievements even when the scale is unaware. In this manner, you will find an abundance of inspiration to keep your fire fueled toward your ultimate goals! Not all of these objectives will apply to everybody at all times, so you must pick and choose the ones you are willing to work on today. After all, we are all individuals and all have a different set of goals. Once your behaviors become second nature, you may want to add a few to your routine and go from there. You may also want to design a chart to gauge your progress. Use whatever motivates you: colors, pictures, stars, smiley faces... JUST DO IT! Measure success by: 1. Number of times you exercised 2. Number of times you refused dessert/other non-healthy snack/second helpings3. Number of calories you consumed4. Number of times you asserted wants/needs5. Number of times you refrained from giving in to cravings6. Measurements (inches lost around specific parts of body) 7. Percentage of Body Fat (you need a caliper to measure this) 8. Number of times you turned negative thinking into positive thinking9. Number of entries in your feelings journal10. Number of times you offset stress in a healthy manner11. Number of times you took time for YOU12. Number of fat grams consumed13. Number of carbohydrate grams consumed14. Number of protein grams consumed Finding what works for you is truly the key to your success. What works for one person may not be suitable for everyone. Please keep in mind that your body is your temple -- treat it in the best of health! It’s the only one you have so do what you have to in order to make it work for you! Just remember: You are already a success -- now, measure success the right way. ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here
