I think this is an unfounded worry given the work of Dr. Peatfield and

others.....heck, even the insert on Armour says don't use if there is adrenal

problems.

But let me tell you my experience. I, like you, was having MAJOR problems

with insomnia. I started the Deltacortril 5 days ago starting at 2.5 mg. and

just today went up to 5.0 mg. which I intend to stay on as long as I feel

necessary. I'm pretty much using Peatfield's protocol.

Here's the difference for me. I had described before that although my hypo

symptoms were mostly gone...that I always felt like my body was

" straining " .....just trying to keep up. That feeling is gone. Now I just feel

good.

I also would crash after a really busy day. Last weekend, I was out and

about on both Saturday and Sunday. I assumed I'd be napping alot on Monday.

that was the day I took my first Deltacortril. Well, I never crashed....and I

have continued being up all day...and being busy all day....all this week. No

hypo symptoms. No bad feelings. I feel " normal " if such a thing could be

possible. And the past two nights I have slept soundly.

So...there is a definite difference for me.

Hi ,

I am wondering, have you had your Free T3 or Free T4 tested recently?

When you tried the adrenal stuff, ?how long did you take it? For

some people it takes months for the adrenal to become fully

effective. The same goes for Armour, it takes weeks and for some

months for Armour to fully become effective.

One thing that I have noticed is that for quite a few of us, we all

jump on the band wagon for many products all at once, and we are

never sure which one product is doing what part of the feeling

better part. Armour is known for saying to treat the exhausted

adrenal gland first, then WEEKS later start the Armour slowly.

Unfortunately, a lot of us have felt horrible for way too long and

we are impatient to feel better...Some of us are willing to do

anything to feel better, the faster the better. So, we start off at

a high dosage with the " Miracle Drug " Armour and forget that because

we were not receiving an optimiun dosage for the Thyroid other

glands have been trying to make up the difference. We finally hear

of the possibility of health and get disappointed when not every

thing comes right within a few weeks or months, depending upon the

individuals patience.

For me, every time I have started to feel better I, slowly, have

returned to some of my old, pre armour days, I now increase my

armour a 1/4 grain at a time and I slowly return to the newer

energetic me...I have learned to increase really slowly, the closer

I get to my optimum dosage... If I increased my dosage too fast I

had the normal overdosed reactions: hyper signs...including heart

palpatations which are really scary considering my currently

physical condition.

If I were in your shoes, I would settle into a dose of Armour,

spaced out over three times a day and not add anything for a full 30

days...Then add 2.5mg of Hydrocortisone in what ever form works for

you, and than wait another 30 days. Then add 1/4 grain of Armour to

your current dosage and wait for another 30 days...Nothing is going

to make your body heal faster than time itself...rush it and you

will continue to experience the roller coaster effect....

It took you ?how long to get to the way you felt before you began

this Armour journey???? It may take as long to begin to find the new

you....

I just did it again! Argh! I type and then I hit Post instead of

Reply! So if you get this twice, that's why! I just wanted to say

hang in there, okay? I know exactly what you mean about the big

tease thing! When I first switched to Armour I felt absolutely

wonderful, the best I had in years! For a couple days! Then slid

back, but then felt terrific again when I added the DHEA and upped

the Armour dose and it felt so good to feel great for about 3 days --

better than I had in YEARS, and then wham! I don't know what

happened but I'm absolutely miserable again. It is incredibly sad

to experience those joys only to have them yanked away.

Maybe it IS an adrenal thing. But keep the faith and hope. I know

it's hard but we have to. If we can experience good days here and

there, there must be more around the corner! Take care!

What is up with this? This is what really makes me

Thanks , it's funny, but I just posted something that essentially

says the same thing. With those good days, at least there is some HOPE!

I am re-thinking the adrenal thing again. Maybe I didn't give it

enough time the first time around. Lord knows I have been one big

stress ball my whole life. You know, I have counted all my moves in my

lifetime, and I have moved 28 times in my life (a couple I don't

really remeber when I was very small). That's a lot. And because of

this moving around, I can't stay in one place for more than 2 years or

so. SO, I think I bring some of the stress onto myself. I need to

relax and chill, don't you think lol?

I really do think that many hypos have this crazy chaotic lifestyle.

We all seem to be bright, intuitive, overly ambitious, and very giving

of too much of ourselves & to our own detriment. Just an observation,

but for the most part it it true I think.

Hi, ,

I hope, if you end up moving to Houston, that you can settle down

and stay in one place for awhile. Moving is extremely stressful on

the whole family and if your health is suffering, it's got to be

even worse on you. And let me guess who is going to do most of the

packing and taking care of details?? I think you're right in that

hypothyroid people (women) are very giving of themselves -- look at

all the wonderful people on these forums who sign in every day and

read all the posts and try to help perfect strangers. It's just

amazing!

I haven't been around long enough to know your whole story. But you

were on adrenal support before? Do you mind if I ask what kind and

how long? Was it hydrocortisone or prednisone? Or some kind of

glandular thing? Anyway, just curious as to why you discontinued --

sounds like you've been under a great deal of stress for a long

time.

I'd better quit procrastinating here. Take care and good luck.

Hang in there! (I don't know if our crazy chaotic lifestyles came

first or if our disease makes our lives feel crazy and chaotic --

what came first the chicken or the egg)? Lol-

e same thing. With those good days, at least there is some HOPE!
