If he is entitled to free NHS treatment in the UK then you need to go to the post office and get an E111 which extends the reciprocal health arrangements to Europe although sometimes you have to pay a little up front and claim it back. I don't know what happens if you don't have an E111 form, have never risked it. One form will cover whole family and there will be more details at the post office.
