Guest guest
My husband is on metfomin and some others, and has really bad GI side effects. One thing that really helps a LOT is acidopholis. The right kind really helps nip that in the bud and lets him get along almost normally. Not all acidolphilises (Acidolpholii?) are the same, and the more expensive ones are not nessicarily best. There is only one kind of acidoilpholis that works good for my husband, and its a cheaper house brand of a local food-co-op helath food store. Even the more expensive fancy ones from health food stores don't work as well. So if you try acidolpholis and its not working well for you, try another kind/brand, starting with cheapest ones first. Refrigerated is best, but off the shelves kind may work too. Acidolpholis is pretty inert because its just good flora/fauna for your system, Extra gets excreted, so its pretty darn safe. I never heard of a single warning to avoid interactions with acidolpholis. And when it works, it has an effect you notice within hours. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi ; Acidophilus is one of the the lactobacilli, the second most important bacteria in a healthy bowel, the most important being bifidobacterium. We need them. > > What is acidopholis?? I never heard of it. Healthy populations of these two beneficial bowel bacteria preclude infection from the " bad guys " that cause gas, flatulence, diarrhea, pain and other disturbances that actually lead to a pretty unhealthy situation. An imbalance in the intestinal tract, typified by low numbers of " the good guys " and high numbers of " the bad guys " , has been associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Yeast Infections, Urinary Tract Infections (UTI), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Pancreatitis, Vaginitis, Ear Infections, Crohn’s Disease, Constipation, Lupus, Breast Cancer, Ulcerative Colitis, Cirrhosis of the Liver, Acne, Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS), and Psoriasis. This is for real, directly from the research, and the research, some of it, is more than 20 years old, so it's pretty well-known and in the medical archives. Feeding the bowel bacteria is just as important as not killing it, and just as important as using a probiotic (beneficial organisms) occasionally. But actually a probiotic like acidopholus is not enough, you need bifidus too. If you don't feed the correct bowel bacteria you will find some relief with probiotics but they won't be colonizing the bowel well so it's not permanent. So feed them too. For that you use Inulin. I have more material, research links, the whole works for people who write in. regards, Duncan Crow
