Guest guest
I posted this the third week of April. All of this may or may not be related, but it is a fact. BTW I started Isocort two or three weeks prior to the Armour. Was on synthroid before switching to Armour. Since starting Armour on Feb 10th, .... ....I am off cholesterol medication. ....I have avoided the hbp meds doc wanted to prescribe. ....I no longer need allergy medications. ....I have more energy. ....I no longer take melatonin to rest at night. ....Arthritic/fibro aches and pains are practically gone. ..occasional puffiness in hands hasn't reappeared ....I am no longer having problems with dry skin. ....I have my hair growing thicker. ....A flatulence problem has practically disappeared. ....I seldom need an afternoon nap. ....snoring has ceased. ....I can stay awake in church. ....Tremendously missed libido is returning. I still have problems with .. Swelling and puffiness around calves and ankles .. Plantar fasciatis .. Energy, although I am improved to the point that I don't absolutely have to have naps and I'm not falling asleep at the wheel. .. Blood pressure which is erratic and on the high side End of April Post Now, (July 7th) after 8 (or thereabouts) weeks of reducing med per the an endodunce, I am backsliding. I only went to the endo for my reg doc who wanted a second opinion before he let me up my dose. His medical school training has him brainwashed and he doesn't want the liability. Well, I guess it paid off, b/c now dh realizes that I do know what I'm talking about and reg doc is ready to send me to one of the docs on the Top Docs list. I have been patiently cooperating all along hoping that my reg doc would see the light as far as armour is concerned and therefore be able to help others. He has a special interest in thyroid issues as he has several family members who are hypo's. Just thought ya'll might be interested. Now I've got to go pack for my trip. Leaving in two day's and all these doc visits checking out my breast lump has got me behind. Blessings, Debbie K.
Guest guest
Debbie, that list of all the positives since you started Armour was great to read again. I am curious---how much were you on when you got all those benefits, and what are down to?? It's just amazing what we have to go through to convince our docs!!! Guest guest
Prior to Feb 10th was on 125 Synthroid. Started out on 60mg armour. Old doc would not let me raise it. Found new doc with interest in Thyroid b/c of his families history. Went to 75mg around the first of March. By the end of March I created and posted that list. Went to 90mg the first of April The end of May Endo (that my reg doc sent me to b/c of, I think, liability issues) said he wanted me to reduce to 60mg. I don't have time to look up exact numbers right now, but his labs showed my TSH at ..234 which was below the range. FT4 and FT3 was in the bottom third of the range. I told him I wanted the free's in the top of the range, if necessary, no matter what the TSH was. If you remember my post, he was the one who said T3 was a narcotic and I would have to go off slowly so he wanted me to alternate 60mg one day and 90mg the next etc. I am supposed to see him the end of August. I'm sure that if I were to go back he will have me reduce it more, but I am not going. I'm also sure he will think I am not returning b/c I am " hooked " . I have not had any major setbacks with the reduction ot 60/90, but things just aren't as well as they could be. There was still room for improvement before and certainly is now. I am returning to my 90mg every day now and making an appointment with a Top Doc. Dh and I are just trying to come to an agreement on which one. Sorry to be so choppy, I am in a hurry. I have to get ready for a trip and have been spending too much time on the computer. It will probably be a week from Monday before I am back on. I am glad you asked this. I have been needing to write this down. Yeah, it is amazing, but I really really think I have a very good chance of convincing my doc. He just needs the proof. When I saw him on Monday, I told him the endo's protocol was not working and I wanted to see someone on the Top Doc list. I asked him if he would consider sending me to one and following the treatment protocol(If he sends me my insurance will pay better) . I suggested, in so many words, that one of two things would have to happen. He would either learn what not to do or learn something that would tremendously help his patients. He said there's nothing wrong with a second opion ;-) and is waiting on dh & me to decide which doc. Blessings, Debbie K. Guest guest
Glad your doctor is cooperating! I don't blame you for not going back to that endo. I hope you do find a great doc. (I can't believe that doctor actually believes that T3 is a narcotic!) How ridiculous is that! (Is he trying to say feeling normal is addictive?) in Va. ----- Prior to Feb 10th was on 125 Synthroid.
