Here is a listserver with parents in the Chicago area whose children have

speech impairments. They have regular meetings too. Holly, the parent who

runs it, is an outstanding parent.

Colleen,

I am in the Northwest Chicago suburbs and have a 3 year old (just yesterday)

daughter. You can e-mail me privately. Also there is a group () that some

members here are also members of called WindyCityApraxia all from the Chicago

area. You may want to join that group as well, especially for local support and

they have meetings and get togethers.

Hi, Colleen!

I'm out in Ottawa, IL - near Starved Rock but we're in ton/Crystal

Lake/Oak Park almost weekly (in-laws, parents and other family, stepdaughter).

All of us Illinoisians should get together!!! Starved Rock is beautiful for

picnics or there's a great picnic area along the I & M Canal route in Channahon,

St. has a great spots along the Fox River. Naperville is beautiful

along the river - you name it, I'm there!

Hi, -

I think we've been in contact before on this line! Good to talk to you

again! I'd say let's all get together for a picnic but I think the snow is

going to be a little prohibitive! What a spring - only in Illinois! Let's all

plan on a get together when the weather is a little more predictable - late

April, maybe? We can figure out a spot that's convenient for everyone and then

anyone in the Chicago area who wants to come, come along!

I am from the Southwest Suburbs and have a 2.5yo boy who may/may not

have apraxia, but has the vocab of a 16-mos old. I would love to get

together also with those near Chicago.
