You should probably make sure you are getting hind milk which usually comes duriing the second part of a pumping session. Usually a 15 min session is recommended for double pumping or 15 min on each side. I think I have this " right. " Help us out here ladies! You are doing great! Keep it up! She is probably getting more in 5 minutes because she is more efficient than the pump. I am envious. I pump for 20 min and get about 1/2 ounce. Can't seem to let down to the pump. I am pumping (using the medela pump in style) every morning to build up a milk supply in the freezer (just for taking on trips to the mall, etc...we live in a very rural area and even the grocery store is a 45 minute drive) ANYWAY, I am pumping for only 5 minutes and getting about 4.5 oz...I am hoping this will also increase my milk supply, is pumping for 5 minutes sufficient or should I go longer? The flow of milk gets less if I go much longer than that and I have to move the suction cups around on my nipples to get more milk - could this mean that Tarah is also getting that much milk in 5 minutes?? I feel very fortunate- now if i could just get baby to stay latched on and eat more often, I'd be stress free!
