Guest guest
, I feel like its ok to just put him back on.. Amandelyn did this fairly often when she was littler.. she would swallow a big bubble and the milk would come up with it.. and then she was hungry and I fed her, usually the second time she didn't spiit up.. You could try stopping and burping halfway through, I did but she was so impatient she would scream and probable swallow more air.. Hope it works out for you Christi
Guest guest
, Some babies will gorge themselves and then spit up. This doesn't harm them at all. Instead of putting him up on your shoulder just try elevating him with a pillow so his head is up above his stomach. Let him rest like this for 20 minutes. That will give him time to digest. Sometimes when they are really full and you put them to your shoulder the pressure can push out some milk. You don't have to cut him off just be gentler with him after those feedings than the shorter ones. Sometimes their hunger seems to overpower their stomach size, don't worry this too shall pass. He won't lose much by spitting up. If he seems really hungry right afterward you can nurse him again. Wendi question I was feeding Corey tonight, he nursed for longer than usual - maybe 40 minutes. I put him on my shoulder when he was done and he spit up a bunch. Then he seemed hungry again. Should I try to hold him off before feeding again? Or should I just put him right back on if that's what he wants? I didn't want him to spit up again so I was thinking I should give him time to digest what he had. Also, should I cut him off if he seems to be going that long? The only 2 BIG spit up times came after nursing for 40-45 minutes. Usually he only does 10-20 minutes at a time. Guest guest
Thanks Wendi- That makes a lot of sense. I will try that. I did nurse him again, several times! This kid is a bottomless pit! Now I will try to get some sleep!
Guest guest
, He's a big boy. It's not surprising that he will need to eat a lot. My son was like that. He was 17 lbs by 4 months. It was rough going there for a while as I don't have an abundant supply of milk. We made it though. You just have to remember that he will only be this needy for a short while. Enjoy it. My son now runs as fast as he can away from me when we are outside. Wendi Re: question Thanks Wendi- That makes a lot of sense. I will try that. I did nurse him again, several times! Guest guest
spitting up can be completely normal. My Cory is still a spitter. As long as he wants to eat- let him. If he spits it out and seems satisfied, then let it go. You could try burping more often, feeding with his head higher than the rest of him, no jiggling him...but some babies just urp! Like I was told, it is more a laundry problem than a medical one....and breast milk doesn't stain your clothes! At least none of mine did! And I would let him nurse as long as he wants. He may be comfort nursing and eats too much for his tummy to hold. After awhile, he'll learn how to nurse w/o getting so much milk out! > ***************************************************** - Proud mommy of Gilbert Cory Valdez (01-10-99) He is so small, he does not know The summer sun, the winter snow; The spring that ebbs and comes again, All this is far beyond his ken. Guest guest
What exactly is Desonide?? It depends what the bump is. If it's acne.. and its cystic.. there's not much you can do besides letting it go down on it's own. If it's been around for a couple weeks.. most likely it's an acne cyst. Is it hard? Does it have a pimple head on it? Do you have rosacea? This is a pretty impossible question to ask unless we know what you have or what it looks like. I'd just let it be and go away by itself.. as overdoing it by putting stuff on it can make it worse. And if it stays for more than a month and you don't know what it is.. you might want to see your doctor.. unless it's just a big acne cyst. question > I need some information on how to get rid of this swollen bump on my face. Guest guest
Hi Carla... I had the same thing not long ago... as a matter of a fact, it was that unsightly bump that compelled me to join this group. I think it lasted about a month and there was nothing that I could do to make it go away. It was as if my skin was so inflamed that the oils my body was producing could not escape through my pores. I think of all the long hours that I have put in and all the trials that I have gone through in my life, and it strikes me as almost amusing now that something like a big red bump could through my entire little world for a loop, but it did. If I was you I would go see a good derm. J.R.
Guest guest
Carla, I would suggest you don't put corts on it....they tend to cause rebound inflammation and also exacerbate acne of all kinds. Perhaps you could try just using a sulfur dry lotion. Your best bet though is to go to the derm and find out if it's a cyst or a growth of some kind. Guest guest
Carla, Stop using that corticosteroid!!!!!! Desonide is a topical corticosteroid--- I know because I used it's generic Desowen for two years only to find out last week that a concensus of opinion in the medical community appears to be that topical steroids should NEVER be used for rosacea. Research shows that it can actually exacerbate the symptoms of rosacea later. Topical steroids can actually induce rosacea as well. My incompetent derm prescribed it for me two years ago and I have no doubt whatsoever that it has caused and/or worsened my rosacea. I'm no medical doctor, but in my experience doctors can't be trusted completely and you should do the homework yourself. All the research I did on the internet said topical steroids for rosacea is huge no-no even though my derm prescribed it. Good luck, Kristi >>> 09/26/99 09:18PM >>> I need some information on how to get rid of this swollen bump on my face. Guest guest
I had one on my nose for a while. I had some Bactroban Cream and tried it - it did make the bump subside a lot. It was a sample from a doctor and has " mupirocin calcium cream 2% " in it (whatever that is). Re: Question >Hi Carla... Guest guest
Phospho-soda is a laxative. I had to take it the night before surgery to clean my intestines. You can get it at your local drug store. Guest guest
I think you mean phospho-soda. It is a laxative and may be obtained at the pharmacy. It is available as an oral drink and (more often) as one of the Fleets enema preparations. in Seattle question What is phosopo-soda? and where do you get it?
