Guest guest
Attempt at Lawyer-Free Neighborhood Goes Sour AP 02-APR-99 (Bakersfield, California-AP) -- A housing development in California wanted to be a lawyer-free zone. But the plan backfired. Officials of Burlington Homes say they don't sell homes to lawyers because they often threaten litigation -- and the contractors don't want to be sued. Ironically, that's why a lawyer is now suing the Bakersfield company. Liebaert says he and his wife thought they'd found the home of their dreams. But, when he mentioned his law practice during a meeting -- the builder quickly canceled the contract. Now Liebaert is suing for unspecified damages.
