The implant site is not healing well (where the pack is implanted) has become very infected despite antibiotics.

Barbara,

Gee, I wish you didn't have to deal with that infection! Have they tested to see what type of antibiotic is best? After having find out that only the IV would work, I wonder how often they do test to see what to give. You might talk to the doctor about having to position yourself a particular way to get it to work. I'm not sure you should be having to do that.

Love,

- The infection appears to be looking a bit better this morning. I will see the doc in any event to make sure I'm on track. Re the positional thing, they've explained that it's more complex when the ectrodes have to be placed int he cervical area vs the lower back. With the cervical area, the lead automatically move more easily since the range of motion in the neck is greater and involves more planes. It should improve as the leads fibrose.scar in. In the meantime as I look to keep my head in a spot where I feel the stimulation, I look a little like one of those toy dogs that folks used to occasionally put in the back window of their car. You know, the one that bobbed their head in reponse to bumps in the road? Should be interesting at work. Barbara Tom Nation wrote:

Barbara, trying to reply again so maybe messed this one up also but do agree with and think you have to tell you doctor about how you have to position yourself and also make sure they know what type of infection they are dealing with so they use correct antibiotic. Please take care and know your in my thoughts and prayers.

Barbara,

Thanks for explaining that. Since mine is in the lower area, I didn't know you had to deal with that in the upper area. That's probably why some people are given a cervical collar right after surgery. Do you have to wear one?

- No...no cervical collar. I'm not sure that it would help too much. The slightest movement appears to alter the sensations, varying from NO sensation to sensations in areas throughout my body. Will just hang in there and see this through. A good day for you, I hope. Barbara
