Judi, I have a heart monitor on while I am on the treadmill. It is a program

that is automatic. My heart rate starts at 104 and then proceeds to 150.

Not good I say! But you have to start somewhere. It starts out at 2.2 miles

then advances to 3.4. I was ready for it to stop, believe me, but everyday

it should get easier.

I think today has been my best day so far as feeling well. I think I have

more energy and the most wonderful thing about today is that I found you all!

I think it was suppose to happen! I love it here!

Hi Kath...Oh they do!...When I start my day the first thing I do before work

is take my supplements...I have to break the amount of them down into 3x a

day....But it motivates me .....I take a bunch around 7ish then another

around 2 ish and another around 7pm ish...I try not to take them after that

cause I have to take alot of water with them and you know what that

means!.....This is the best thing I have ever done for myself...I am always

doing for my 3 grown kids and 5 grandchildren but this is the first thing I

have done for myself since I was a teenager....I'm so happy .......Not having

the sugar and carbos is the answer..If I gained weight on this diet I would

do it....And that says alot....Sugar and carbos are poison to us!.I had heard

about this diet from other prople over the years but only listened with half

an ear, but one person said things that stuck...and 5 months after our

conversation I said..Hummmmmm let me give it a try...for 2 longgggggggggggggg

days I stopped the carbos and saugar and the 3rd. day I woke up looking

around and saying Whattttttt is goin gon...I felt terrific, tons of energy,

love of life etc....But you have to really examine every single pkg, of stuff

you eat..Like I told someone earlier, I loved O.J...drank almost a quart a

day..went to bed with a glass next to me cause if I woke up during the nite

it tasted so good and when I woke up in the morning I would reach for

it...Little did I know I was really messing with myself..1 8oz glass of O.J.

is more than a WHOLE days allowence of carbos!....I was screwing myself

before I even put my feet on the floor in the morning......But life is

throwing me many many curves lately and I have been failing and eating things

I shoundn't.....But all the support I am getting from this site is helping

me...So I thank you all.....judi

Hi Jackie....I lost the weight by in that short amount of time by being on

the induction diet ,strictly!.... When I faltered I lost nothing, didn't

gain, but lost nothing for 4 months...I was in a slump....I had gotten cocky

when I found out I had lost 55lbs. in 21/2 months and then ate just a little

something else(wrong) every day..I had no scale then so did know know I was

not losing....Thought that since I had changed my eating by 95% towards

Atkins I must be losing...wrong...and I have not recouperated yet...Still

upset about it .I lost 4 months on this wonderful diet , that is why I joined

this site 3 days ago...best thing I ever did!..Judi

Hi.Jackie..No I eat now 3 meals a day...For breakfast; a few links of

sausage, sometimes scrablmbled eggs with cheese...for lunch a salad, either

tuna or egg salad or chicken salad with lots of mayo, on a bed of romaine

lettece (less carbos then iceberg) and a couple of grape tomatoes,(well a

bunch of grape tomatoes!).....I snack about 4pm. on pepperoni, or

olives, mattzerella cheese etc...And for dinner I have meat, a little veggie

and lots of WATER....uh, I miss my diet soda and O.J!...If I want to snack at

nite I eat celery dipping it in cream cheese (whipped).....I should do

exercise...One week I walked every other nite and almost doubled my weight

loss that week!...But I am lazy. this weekend I am borrowing a stationary

bike and I can ride miles on it...I tried it and seem to be able to do 5

miles a day on it..takes me about 30 min. but I feel good when I do it and I

do lose calories and the best thing is that it is good for my heart

etc...Opps gotta go finish blowdrying my hair...will og on after I finish to

see if there are any new e-mails..Judi

Judi...I guess we all have to learn about the sugars and carbs...guess we

have been into them so long that we think that Atkins way cannot be the right

way. It is so good to hear that you are getting back on track again and I

know that the support of this group is really helpful. Keep up the good work

and I thank you for helping me get started on the right foot with many of

your stories.

Since I have been on this list I have heard a few

different things regarding lettuce. Some people say

romaine has less carbs, but then some people have said

the iceberg has less carbs...anybody know for fact

which one has less carbs...

Thanks

Judi,

when you talk about the carb counter are you refering to Atkins small book

with carbs listed along with protein and fat?

Hi Pete..I never said I had the carb counter, that must have been someone

else..I just go by the Atkinds book and always look at the back of

pkg's....judi

I would not worry to much about the lettuce, from what Atkins says...

romaine and iceburg are only .3 g apart from each other. There are so many

different things out on the web, I have the Atkins carb counter and I

usually follow that, but there is not too big a difference.

The only reason I ask is, 1..I eat a lot of salad,

even though I have cut back to one a day, and 2 on the

website carb counter, from sue, there is like a 3 gram

difference in favor of the romaine.

Wow, that is a big difference.... I am not sure what to tell you, according

to Atkins Romaine is 1.9 for 1 cup loosly packed and iceburg is 1.6 for 1

cup..... Maybe you could find some packaged romaine and look at the

nutrition label..... I wish I could tell you more....

Yes Judi, I agree.

I didn't get it done either. For the reason I was eager to get started on

diet and didn't want to take the time to go get it done. When I go again for

next blood pressure check I'll inform him but he doesn't discuss diets at

all. he's no help to me at all in that category. But he's still a good family

dr.

Hi Judi,

Sounds like we both need to go on the search for one of those barriatric

dr.'s They aren't listed that way but maybe the Med soc.

can steer us to one. They keep tabs on us and understand what we are trying

to do. As far as I know they don't try to make us do one diet or another. They

are just there for weigh ins blood tests and support.

Soon as things get back to normal around here I will certainly look for one.

Hope you can do the same. Good luck

Pete

Hi Judi,

His name was BABY a beautiful white poodle. On his 10th birthday he got

diabetes. I had to give him two shots of insulin a day. He also had cushings

disease. But regardless he was so full of life and so happy then yesterday

morning he just acted kinda funny not himself. I couldn't get him to eat so

off to the vet we went.He said BABY was dying and to treat him would only

make his sugar go really crazy and there was no cure. He was hemorrhaging

internally. This was at 10:00am. I was like a robot the rest of the day, I

was here but yet I wasn't. He was my friend and I will miss him til the day I

die.
