Guest guest
Do you have your son on soy..there may be a sensitivity to soy or corn which replaces alot of the wheat/dairy. Just a thought Michele
Guest guest
Have you tried probiotics? Culturelle seems to be a very good product. My friend's son who is sensitive to gluten and casien had loose bowels. This fixed it for him. If you decide to give it a try be certain that you get the one that contains 20 billion cells. I think that Kirkman labs. distributes it. If you order direct from Culturelle you get the lower dose for the same price (go figure!) Good luck, Bert
Guest guest
did your doctor talk to you about adding fiber to his diet? Fiber can also help with loose stools, as well as constipation. ~K [ ] loose bowel and apraxia Hi there, You've been posting about constipation and laxitives. My son 2.5 has loose bowels and we are at wits end as to what to do. We've seen two Gastros and took multiple tests and got no clear answers Perhaps intollerance to dairy and wheat which he was already not eating... We went to an accupressurist and things improved a bit with the help of herbs and kuzu( a japanese root). He is also off Dairy, refined sugars and wheat. Any imput would be appreciated.. The thought of potty training him is frightening because he goes so often...
Guest guest
Since your child is under the care of an MD for this -has your child been tested for celiac? They are saying it's more common than once thought. It's also not uncommon in the world of autism and 'related' disorders. (welcome parents of late talkers) http://www.medem.com/medlb/article_detaillb.cfm?article_ID=ZZZ1W61C2CD & sub_cat=2 That was me as a baby and a child -in my case it ended up I had celiac disease just like my older brother. Diarrhea can be very serious in a young child as you know-a strict diet is what saved our lives. (no sugar, wheat, or oil) Does your child also have signs of anemia? I was almost always borderline anemic as a child -and spent too much time in the hospital as an infant I was so sickly before they knew I too had celiac. (and go figure I have a child that has the opposite problem with constipation!) Here is some info on diarrhea - http://familydoctor.org/flowcharts/534.html What did my mom feed me when I was really sick to try to keep me out of the hospital? Bland plain foods -rice -baby rice cereal mixed with bananas (to replace the potassium etc.) also known as the BRAT diet -Bananas, Rice or Rice cereal, Apple sauce and Toast. (oh the memories of childhood!) Then again even though my brother and I survived -and this did help us each time like a charm -the BRAT diet too like senna in tea now comes served with controversy. http://www.injuryboard.com/view.cfm/Article=332 =====
Guest guest
my son also is using probiotics gold from kirkman. must be refrigerated upon receiving. he was likewise always constipated, (we went the suppository and lots of prune juice route.) went on gf/cf diet and he started to have very loose bm, now after the probiotics it has made his bm more formed. one cap a day mixed into his sippy cup. it retores the natural bacteria to your intestines that antibiotics could have killed. and being he has had 2 surguries he has many antibiotics. lori
Guest guest
Hey Lori: How long did it take when using your probiotic before you saw improvements? We started on Floragen 3, a probiotic and he has been quite whiny/irritable/loose stools still...I heard this could go on for about 1-2 weeks, then you see the good child re- appear. Is this similar to what you experienced? I want my back!
