Jay,

Have you read the book? It's really fascinating, I think.

Hi ,

Thanks for replying. Yes, the SCD diet (Specific Carbohydrate Diet)

has been discussed on various autism lists. It appears to be most

beneficial for those with yeast and bacteria issues in the gut. One

child that I see was on the diet, but he actually became quite

constipated on it. His mother took him off of it after a few

weeks.

The child I was writing about has never really had significant gut

issues. After his comprehensive testing and file review from Andy

Cutler, he has been put on the Feingold diet which restricts

hydrogenated oils, preservatives, artificial ingredients, and

salicylates (sp).

nne,

Has your doctor explained what this means, the high potassium & sodium, and low

calcium & magnesium?

I always thought when the potassium was high, the sodium tended to be low etc.

There could be more

going on than just the adrenals.Maybe the kidneys? I think I saw something about

a Vitamin D deficiency

with low calcium. I just skimmed over it and thought you might want to read it.

Jay, what lab work did they do for this? My son shows adrenal insufficiency

according to his hair test with potassium and sodium sky high, and calcium

and magnesium way low. I was hoping this was due to low thyroid function,

and armour will fix it in time. I have him on thorne adrenal extracts, along

with adrenal supports in the way of vitamins. Trouble with most of the

extracts are they have adrenaline also. I was not about to put him on

hydrocortisone on my own, but we have a top doc appointment next Friday. I

am very interested in addressing this also, but I would do the physiological

doses as cindi said.
