Guest guest
Cappie, Just out of curiosity, since you mentioned the height/weight charts, have you had your body fat percentage measured? Scales are available rather inexpensively these days which will return your measurment using electromagnetic resistance (NOT for use by people with pacemakers, etc.) I ask, because the height-weight chart says I should weigh between 14-152 or somewhere therabouts for my height, which is 5'7. My wrists, however, are as big as your ankles! I'm right off the chart when it comes to skeletal measurements. Guess it was loving cheese as a kid -- good strong bones and teeth I've had my body fat taken both by the caliper/skinfold method and with the electromagnetic resistance. Yes, I do need to lose quite a bit of weight -- but not NEARLY as much as I thought -- I have over 160 pounds of *LEAN* body tissue: bones, muscle, internal organs... all that stuff ya sorta need to keep *grin*. Because of this, my doctor has given me a goal weight of NO LESS than 210 lbs -- nearly 60 pounds over the height/weight chart. So, depending on your body composition, you could very well be at the very best healthy weight for your body, regardless of what you consider it to be " in your mind " or in comparison to a height/weight chart. It's something I see all the time, really -- people thinking they need to get to the figure on the height-weight chart. In my case, trying doing so would probably kill me, or at least make me very ill! Guest guest
SulaBlue: well thanks for the nice try but because I have already lost over half of my body weight I am drowning in excess body fat/flab. The only thing that is going to help this at my age is plastic surgery but I simply cannot afford to do it. Even the site you recommended gave me a body fat estimate based on my measurements of about 45%. As I said, I actually did weigh about 115 when young but even then was a healthy curvy 34/24/34 not a little frail girl. Those bones of mine are small & deep under all the flesh. cappie Greater Boston Area T-2 10/02 9/04 A1c: 5.3 Mod 100 carb diet, walking, Metformin.
