You're right, Jimmy...adoption is not the answer for most of us

Well I wasnt gonna comment, I'm not a parent. But, this statement bothered me. Just wanted to say, there are some things worse the death. Man, I saw my mom then my sister go thru Hell before they did die..........On the other side, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable adopting a child. Knowing one day I may not be able to care for it.

So often we hear people say, "there's always adoption." Well, when you weigh the pros and cons, in our cases, adoption just isn't an answer, either.

First, you'd be exposing the kid to lessons in life way too early, as they witness you going through the surgeries. Let's say he or she becomes attached to you, loves you in spite of the misery you put the kid through. You die and where is the adopted child then? Bounced back into an orphanage or foster home. So adoption agencies consider the welfare of kids and chances are, NF2ers will have a devil of a time adopting one.

Yes, it is worse than death to watch a loved one with NF2. Death does not scare me. It doesn't scare the kids, either. However, the prospect of daddy's death has ALWAYS worried them. I tell em, "Well don't...Daddy doesn't plan to go away anytime soon."

(I don't...Well, going try to make it to a Vegas NFCon or OZ would be cool, but Heaven has room rates under the $150 plus a night of Sin City...As I said in chat the other night, I may go out into the desert and pitch a tent... Yo, Mikey, do you want to room with me again in the sleeping bag?)
