Guest guest
hi, welcome and congratulations. when you least expect it is the best suprise!! julie Introduction... Hi, I joined the list a couple of weeks ago but I have just been lurking and reading. I felt it was time to just jump right in and tell you a little about me.. My name is Tally and I'm 28 years old. I had an Open RNY 1-14-00 and have lost 153 pounds as of November and have been on a plateau every since. Which the doctor said is normal. Just my body's way of trying to catch up. I'm thrilled with the weight loss. I started out at 401 and am now 248. It feels wonderful. Now on to the pregnancy part.. That is a bit longer.. lol I have been married for almost 6 years and during that time we tried over and over again to get pregnant. It just never happened. I had been told in my teens that I would have a difficult to impossible time conceiving for various problems I had.. I always hoped but didn't put to much in it. Doc said we could try a year out. He said wouldn't hurt to try as weight loss will kick start my metabolism and hormones and I just might be surprised.. My husband is in the military and spends 6 months a year out to sea. 2 months in and 2 months out so the odds were stacked against us from the beginning.. or so I thought.. lol I went off my pill the end of Sept when my husband left for his patrol to let it get out of my system. I bought the $200 clear plan fertility monitor and started that. It keeps track of your cycle and gets to know when you should start your period and tells you when you ovulate based on how your urine sticks come out.. So I did it for Oct, Nov and DEC my husband came home about 2 weeks before christmas..My period came.. The little monitor said its time so we did and then waited.. the monitor told me that my period was supposed to come and it did not.. so I actually got upset thinking that because I stopped my pill that now my cycle was finally starting to screw up like it had so many times in the past.. never once did I think I was pregnant.. WELL duh.. I waited how long for this?? Was planning for this and then didn't think it was??? I work as a Medical Assistant for a Family Planning practice and readily have access to preg tests, I couldn't however because I got called away for a patient and asked a coworker to run it real quick.. I then forgot about it.. She came to me sometime later and asked who the test was for thinking it was a patient and I said it was mine.. and she smiled and said your pregnant.. I about died.. I couldn't breathe.. I started crying and shaking my head no.. and she kept saying yes.. and oh goodness what a day!!!! It was just the most incredible thing ever.. I have waited so many years for this.. and I never really thought it would happen.. and it was just a wonderful way to continue an already terrific year.. I'm due Sept 29th. I'm about 9 weeks prego. I found out when I was just 4wks 1 day. I get a sono every week. Its wonderful to see the progression. I'm fortunate to work in the medical field and have access to the sono machine.. My boss might think otherwise.. (smile) So I do one every saturday and have started a book with the pictures... Ok so that is my long book.. Probably way more info that you all wanted, but just had to share... =) Tally (Alameda, CA) Open RNY 1-14-00 Start 401 Present

I am still pre-op but I am certain that once I have the surgery and wait the recomended amount of time, I want to try to have another bambino. I am kind of " lurking " as well, trying to absorb as much information as possible in the time I have prior to all of the changes that are on my horizon. I have been married for 5 years, and I have 2yr old fraternal twin boys. It took two years of fertility treatments to get pg, but it was worth every anxious moment. They are the most miraculous, enchanting, and charming little people I have ever known. I cant remember what I lived for prior to their births. I am so blessed to have them, but I feel that our family will be complete with the addition of one more baby (if I had it my way, another set of twins). I am worried about my fertility problems, but your story makes me think that it may not be as difficult as it was the first time. I have Polycystic ovaries and do not ovulate predictably. I have never had a period that was not induced by a drug of some sort. Currently, I am on the pill to regulate my periods, but that pretty much knocks out the possibility of getting prego. Do you think that the monitor would help me? Well, enough about me, what do you think about me? tee-hee! Congrats again on your pregnancy and your phenominal weight loss. >
Guest guest
Tally, what a wonderful story you have! I am new here also and was wondering if I could go ahead and ask you or anyone else on the site a few question? First of all, what kinds of " special needs " does pregnancy and WLS produce? Do we atomatically become a " high risk " pregnancy? What about nutrition? I really am concerened about this, sometimes I feel I cant supply myself with enough proien, water, etc. Is this a common concern? any input is welcome! ) And Tally..Good Luck to you!! And Keep us updated on your progress! Jackie S.

Guest guest
hi, im not tally but i will answer. no, i had no special treatment at first then they labled me high risk because i was losing too much yet. it was more to monitor the baby than for me having problems. i did nothing really special...i took my vitamins and ate all i could stuff into this little tummy. that is the biggest worry is not getting enough in. sorry, there have been alot of new people and i am too scatter brained to keep track...are you pregnant now? how far post op are you? ok, kris...did your doc ever run those blood test for you and did they come out ok? not trying to be nosey but just curious. julie Re: Introduction...
