Guest guest
Dennis and Mitzi; The disease is " slowly progressive " I suppose they( DOCS) think that is how to diagnose it! <progressing slowly> LOL First of all WELCOME Mitzi. . . I believe there is a reason for everything and there is a reason you found this site. . . we're glad you are here and love an opportuntiy to share information about CMT to make others AWARE! Whether you are confirmed to have CMT or not your symptoms evidently are similar and that is what we all share here. Understanding for what we deal with daily in coping with those symptoms whatever the cause, sharing is our biggest asset. I believe MS, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and some of the other chronic illnesses can also relate ,for they too, deal with a life long illness. And a daily battle of making adjustments. However, for me the point of acceptance and journey out of denial. . . came at the point I had a name to put with my collective group of symptoms! It is easier to fight something if you know what it is. . . emotionally and metally fight of course! LOL So, the " Healing " can begin when you know the source or root of the problem. At least you can tell people what is wrong. . .though to most the " phantom disease " isn't visible or understood! (Funny thing is my husband told the doctors from the beginning what it was after a chiropractor made comment he thought I had something Neuromuscular and progressive (just by reading in a Physicians Reference, and MERK Manual of description of CMT). . .and after $11,000 plus in tests etc. to find out what it WASN'T. . . they tell him, " you were right, she's got CMT " ) Confirmed after 3 years with DNA test to have CMT 1X. Hang in there and we are all here for you. . . And Dennis the confirmation will come. . . but the best way to cope is to learn as much as you can. . . pay attention to your body, be kind to it and be among friends and like minded people. HERE YOU ARE! Lots of Love,Hugs Libby /\/\ \ / \/ ===== " I THANK GOD FOR MY HANDICAPS, FOR, THROUGH THEM, I HAVE FOUND MYSELF, MY WORK, AND MY GOD.
