Guest guest
An ortho at GOSH in London explained last week to me that the alternative to leg lengthening was shortening, not by cutting bone out, but by stopping the bone from growing to allow the other to catch up. I don't know whether this means permanent stopping growing, or just for a while. This means just three weeks in plaster, rather than a long, painful operation to lengthen. I make no judgement, just passing on info. Also, physically, difference of up to 3cm does not damage the spine. 3cm is the point at which they decide treatment is required.(which might just be a shoe lift). Even 8cm can be corrrected, although I suspect this means a correction of 5cm, to within the <3cm difference. The decision's a long way off yet for us, but anyone out there that's closer to it please keep in touch.
