Hi Kathie,

I've been doing Atkin's now for 27 days. I've taken off 20lbs during

this time. I was doing lo-fat prior to that and that accounts for the rest

of my 39lb loss. I was at my highest weight in November of 1997 when I was

told I had borderline high blood pressure and was put on medicine to help

lower my bp. My current bp holds right at 120/80 +/- 5 points. I was

extremely sick during March, April, and May of this year and nearly died.

After that experience I saw my weight quickly climbing back up again and I

decided that I wasn't going to lose out on my lost weight. I had been

holding at a 25lb loss for almost a year and a half. I started doing

and then was enlightened about Dr. Atkin's. Well, it didn't take

much research before I decided to get the book and get started. Eating in

this fashion has been a real challenge but it has been so enjoyable too. I'm

eating foods I've been avoiding years and LOVING IT!! My losses stalled out

this last week so I am cutting back on diet pop and see if that helps. I'm

planning on getting back to exercising soon too. That's the Reader's Digest

version...I hope that gives you some good info. Good luck!

Wow! Bill! You have done so wonderful! I am so amazed and getting less

apprehensive about this diet as I read every ones story. I hope that next

week will bring good changes for me also as far as the weight goes. I can

hardly wait to hit the 14 day mark so I can tell you all how I have done.

Thanks for your story. You are making me a believer!

Kathie

Hi Kathie,

I am currently studying to become a certified personal trainer. I've

been into the bodybuilding lifestyle (somewhat) for the last 21 years. Give

me your question and I'll try to answer it for you.

Thanks Bill! My question is... my hubby of 57 has a big belly like a beer

belly, but does not drink beer or never did. Will this Atkins diet help him

to loose that? What can he do to get rid of that?

Hi Bill,

Thats ok about the cross.

You did what you could.

If anyone else has any suggestions let me know.

BTW Bill, how did you find out what combination

of numbers it took for you to make the cross?

Thanks

Pete

Hi Kathie,

That's a good question to ask about your husband. The first thing all

of us must consider is that God made us all in a certain way. Unfortunately

that means that we all gain our fat weight in certain areas of our bodies.

i.e., stomach, butt, hips, etc. This diet can definitely help your hubby but

your body will lose weight in the exact opposite way that it gained it. That

means that whatever area was first to grow years ago will now be the last

area to lose it from. It's unfortunate but it's true. It is also a myth

that you can target weight loss from a particular area. You can, however, do

cardiovascular exercise to begin to assist your body in burning extra

calories and building the cardiovascular system, you can do exercises that

will strengthen this area of the body so that it will begin to get the

muscles firm as you lose weight.

I hope this answers your question but if not, please let me know. Good

luck and tell your husband to hang in there...He Can Do This!

Bill
