Guest guest
Hi Everyone, My name is Joan and I have six children - 12,10,9,7 3,19 mos. I have breastfed all of them and am still bf the youngest. I found that they were all different in their needs. Some of them needed to bf alot, for food, comfort, just to touch base. My oldest was weaned at 13 mos., the next at 9 mos., the next at 14 mos, the next at 13 mos, the next at 16 mos, and the next is still at it. There seem to be a lot of good threads going on here! I had to jump in on one before I even got a chance to send my intro lol. Anyway, it seems like a great group of moms very supportive of one another and I am looking forward to getting to e-know everyone. Guest guest
Stevie, Welcome to the list and good job on the bf. My name is Shera I am a sahm to Tea (tayah) 8/13/98. I am 26 and a single mom. ~shera --- Stevie wrote:

Hi everyone. I did a small intro a while back but since there are so many more wonderful mommies I will go into more detail.
First of all...Welcome to all the new mommies! This list will " capture " you as it has me. My name is Stevie & I'm marrid to a great man & daddy, Chet. I am 37 & he is 26 ) I was married before fo 13 years to a jerk who had a vascectomy. There was no chance of kids with him, not even a posibility. I accepted that as I was only 20. I divorced him & met Chet. I only wanted a friendship & he had other ideas. After about 6 months or so things changed & we became intimate. Along comes my dd a. It was a total shock. Here I was single, 35 & pregnant!!! I knew that this was meant to be. I really feel that things happen for a reason. When she was born it was the greatest gift Icould have ever received. In August of 96 Chet & I got married. I wanted another baby before I got too old & tried 6 months for . With my dd I bf her or 3 months & used formula as well. Boy do I know better now. The same trend started with , but b/c of this list & you wonderful women I have worked very hard to eliminate the formula from his diet.
He had his 2 month appt. today & am pleased to say that when I brought him home from the hospital he weiged 7lb. 4oz. & now weighs 13lb. 8oz. !!!! This is all on my milk!!! I am SO HAPPY about this!! My pedi surprised me today by tlling me to bf for at least a year. I also told him I was returning back to work soon & that I might catch heck at work for pumping. He told me it was against the law..(which I already knew, thank you ladies). He wrote me a note to my boss that states that I NEED to pump at work, my infant NEEDS my bmilk!!! I am so psyched about this.
I have to let you all know that if itwasn't for all the knowledge that I get here...I would have never made this decision. Knowledge truly is power & let me tell you I feel real strong right now!!!!!
I have totally enjoyed the conversation & especially the pictures of all the gorgeous babies.
My son is the healthiest he can be & I want to thank all of you for giving me that gift. > Stevie~Mommy to a 10/10/96 & 2/22/99 > > _________________________________________________________
Guest guest
Thanks Wendi, I do feel really good about what I have accomplished. My pedi realy did sock me today, I was prepared to go in there & inform him. He did tell me if I wanted to sleep a little longer since I'm returning to work soon, to make a teaspoon or so of rice cereal with bmilk after he has eaten his last feeding. Give it to him by spoon & let him move it around in his mouth. Since he is so big, it could'nt hurt to give him that extra little something. Do you think that will help him sleep a little longer?? Guest guest
At 02:36 AM 4/27/99 , you wrote: >Stevie, > >Because they are completely ignorant and think that it will help you. They think convenience is more important than optimal health. > >Wendi > FOTFLMAO! Dont mince words here! lol Actually, many doctors also have to cope with their own personal choices when they give you information. If you are going to a woman doctor who believe that her five fully formula fed children are as healthy as the breastfed babies next door, then you might have a hard time getting unbiased info from her about feeding *choices.* If you go to a male doctor who is unmarried, was raised on formula himself, and has a pin-up of Pamela Lee hanging in his private office, or at home, you might have a hard time getting unbiased information, too! Doctors are people, and their medical advice is usually intermingled with their personal choices. You are the consumer. Dont be afraid to tell them what you want, how you want it and when. Even if you think the doctor might tell you something you dont want to hear. Let him know that you think he is being biased if you think it helps, and seek another opinion. Guest guest
Stevie, You just never know what motivates Dr's sometimes. I know they mean well, but some are from the old school even when they are really from the more recent school...ya know? I think they just figure it has been done in the past and so why not? I am glad you are not going to introduce cereal so early. Most babies are not ready...like Wendi said their digestive systems cannot handle it often. Guest guest
Welcome to the group Crystal. Congratulations on making a healthy life change decision. This is a wonderful support group. The point thing will get easier in time. Let us know how we can help you on your journey, we are in this together. -- Intro i everyone - my name is Crystal Fulcher and I havebeen lurking on this list for the last week. I joinedonline weight watchers two weeks ago today, but madethat first Wednesday my first day. We do havemeetings around here, but since I work full time andhave a 15-month old and a husband, I don't have timefor the meetings, especially since they are 45 minutesfrom home (1 minute from work, but I don't work until7:00 atnight).I have been married for 4 1/2 years to a wonderful manwho is very supportive of me losing weight, he is eventrying to make small changes in the way he eats. Wehave a son, named Logan that was born in December of2000 and he is the joy of my life. I really want tolose weight and get in shape before we start trying tohave another child, which will probably be sometime insummer of 2003, so that will give me over a year tolose weight. We live on the coast of NC in a smallcommunity called South River which is near Beaufortand Morehead City. So far I am loving the program. It takes a lot ofwork to do the points, but I am enjoying thechallenge. It is also helping me to make betterchoices in my eating.I lost two pounds at when I weighed last week and mynext weighing is tomorrow. That makes 6 total in thelast 3 1/2 weeks but this was my first week of WW. Theother 2.5 weeks I started exercising and eating alittle less. I am afraid I may not lose much if anythis week - I have overdone on a few days, but that isjust making me more determined to try and do better. This group helps a bunch also.I love this group and can't wait to be more a part ofit.Take care all,Crystal Fulcher in coastal NC200/194/135 __________________________________________________
