Guest guest
Hi I stayed on induction after the requsite 14 days, but with the supplements, I wouldn't try it w/o them..Anyway, stay on it and maybe have a little more salad ,etc...but I have heard that most people who go off the induction after 14 days don't have much luck continuing to lose the weight as much...But ask around maybe others have their own stories..Judi
Guest guest
Hi Pete, Congratulations on completing your first two weeks on the Atkin's induction! You should be proud of that. In regard to your questions here are my experiences so far. Regarding supplements...I've been on vitamins for years already. I am a firm believer in them whether you are on a diet or not and even more so if you are on any type of diet. Personally I take a men's formula from GNC that is a multipack. A little pricey at about $24.00 a box but it's a 30 day supply and less than a dollar a day. The prescription meds I take cost me more than that each day. LOL Did you ever get the Ketostix? As you know from these e-mails this is the only true way to be 100% sure you are in Ketosis. How many carbs you decide to begin ingesting will be factored by what the stix tell you. I believe Dr. Atkin's says in the book that for maintenance you want to bring your carb level up so you are just out of Ketosis and no higher, otherwise you will regain your fat again. The decision of being on or off the diet is really up to you and the weight loss goals you have set for yourself. Personally, I'm completing my 4th week of induction and intend to remain on it until my weight is down at goal and then I will begin to adjust my carb intake to level off. I know from my bodybuilding books that when you are away from carb intake for any period of time that when you return to eating them you can literally balloon up in size from all the water they will suck into your cells. Bodybuilders use this technique to appear larger on stage than they really are. It is a very precise practice for them and requires some trial and error before they get it exactly right. I hope my 2 cents helps. I'm no expert and only learning as I go but this has been my experience. I am really befuddled by Boozerbee when he says his blood sugar bottomed out to the point of requiring an IV. This makes it sound as if he may be diabetic??? What does anyone else think? This WOE is definately different but it is the first and only diet I have been full on, eating like a king, AND losing weight too!! I may have died and gone to heaven and all of you are the angels around me. LOL Good luck Pete. We're all behind you 100%. Bill
