Guest guest
I was wondering what types of nutritional supplements, vitamins, herbs, etc. people have found helpful with their rosacea. I would like to start a regimen of vitamins to see if these are helpful. I would like to know what other people take. Thanks, ------------------------------------------------------------------------ eGroups.com home: /group/rosacea-support - Simplifying group communications
Guest guest
i take a ton. a soy/protein drink in my oj in the am, along with the following: zinc butcher's broom selenium ginkgo gotu kola conenzyme q10 beta carotene a b complex c e k primrose oil flax seed oil fish oil cats claw bromelain yeast fighters alfalfa pill l-glutamine isolflavones garlic oil bilberry ginseng milk thistle horse chestnut potassium gluconate lecithin l arginine and i'm probably forgetting a couple i need to pick up some quercetin - good for allergies, including possibly helping with food allergies. i started when roadgoo (aka wendy) made her post. she had candida, which i'm not sure if i have or not. i stopped taking the oral anitbiotics, and only very occassionally put on metrocream or sulphur r. use zia and natural oils, like jojoba, or wheat germ oil (hi in e), and my skin's been pretty darn good (after about, maybe 30 days or so of starting the vit kick) i also tried to drastically limit my sugar and alcohol intake. it's a battle. could very well be that my skin is in a natural recession from this miserable disease, all i know is that since i started doing this, my skin looks 90% better. i also take wheat germ and bran daily. ' also, http://www.mothernature.com has a great informative website about the vits/herbs listed. some are for circulatory conditions, some help strengthen capillaries, others help with the immune system, others cleanse the liver, others are anti-inflammatory. those were the key words i was looking for. laura Bromage wrote: > I was wondering what types of nutritional supplements, vitamins, herbs, > etc. people have found helpful with their rosacea. I have 2 books on nutrition: Nutritional Healing by (MD) & Phyllis Balch (CNC), and Staying Healthy with vitamins by Elson Haas, MD. From what I been reading, it seems that Seborrhea can cause cea and Seborrhea may be linked to your body having a vitamin A deficiency. I have found these books very helpfull, but am going to investigate to see if anything is out there on cea specifically. According to the Nutritional Healing book, cea IS a form of Seborrhea. There are different types: Cap'tis: located on scalp, Congestive: it says see Lupus, Corporis: on trunk, Facier: facial, Nigra: dark colored seborrhea, Oliosa: seb with oily content, cea: Middle age Seborrhea that reappears, Sicca: dry form with scales. Guest guest
You should take a look at " Prescription for Nutritional Healing " (Second Ed.) by F. and Phyllis A. Balch. It has a rosacea section. Under 'Very Important' it lists: Evening Primrose Oil, 500 mg 3x/day; Vitamin A, 25,000 IU daily for 3 months, then reduce to 15,000 IU daily. If pregnant do not exceed 10,000 IU daily. Vitamin B Complex: as directed. 100 mcg of B-12 3x/day. 'Important' - Multivitamin and mineral complex, 400 IU of Vitamin E (increase slowly to 800 IU daily) and Vitamin C (50 mg daily, do not exceed 100 mg daily from all supplements). Then there are various things listed under 'Helpful.' I also take L-Glutamine, which seems to be helping. Hope this helps. Guest guest
You mention Vitamin B Complex as directed. Is that what you buy Vitamin B Complex and how many do you take? I am new to the group but I find all this information fascinating. I don't know what my trigeers are but someone mentioned that one can test for triggers by taking the pulse before and after eating a possible trigger. Anybody try that? >From: Enzanni@... >To: mbromage@..., rosacea-supportegroups >Subject: Re: vitamins >Date: Wed, 16 Jun 1999 07:44:27 EDT > >You should take a look at " Prescription for Nutritional Healing " (Second >Ed.) >by F. and Phyllis A. Is that method meant for rosacea triggers or allergy triggers? Those are two separate things altogether. My advice would be to be careful and watch your reactions to sun, alcohol, spicy food, pepper, gingko biloba (which often has cayenne pepper in it, a huge trigger for me), products with alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), and witch hazel.
